    Glimpses 2 - Now Complete

Though it was a day late, hopefully, it's not a dollar short. I've posted the final chapter of Glimpses 2! I hope everyone enjoys the last chapter and enjoyed the story as I whole. I would also like to thank everyone that submitted suggestions to my blog about a month ago. The anthology would not have been nearly as interesting without your input!

LOEG Story Swap Event Revealed! · 2:20pm Aug 6th, 2012

Nothing is as it seems

******
The long version follows. For the TL;DR bullet list, scroll to the bottom
******
If you pay attention to the Fimfiction front page blog, then you may already know about this. Still, I'm going to lay it all out so that no one that reads this post is confused.

I participated in a Story Swap event with several others authors here on Fimfiction. The idea was simple. Two authors pair up to swap stories, with a fairly well followed author often being paired with another author who was less well known. The rules were simple, the authors had to both write stories the other was comfortable with and, if they chose, they could share some basic premise. The other rule was that both stories had to mention a key phrase at some point, though I'll leave you to guess what that key phrase was.

This means that the story I recently posted Pink Dream is actually the work of Ninestempest, a good but underappreciated author here on Fimfiction. This, of course, also means that a story he recently posted Fluttershy Wishes was actually written by me. These stories were swapped, and both share a simple premise of what would happen if a pony in Ponyville found a genie and were given the (in)famous three wishes.

The purpose of this swap was first and foremost to have some fun and to inspire one-shot writing. The second reason this was done, and why I joined, was to see how much an authors fame attributes to how much exposure a story gets. Not too surprising, Nines' Pink Dream story got a lot more exposure on my account than my story Fluttershy Wishes got on his.

The final reason the story swap was done was to help give lesser known authors some exposure. There are lots of good writers here on Fimfiction, but sometimes they aren't lucky enough to have built up a large group of followers. This also makes me appreciate all my followers to a much greater degree, since I had to witness my own story go painfully unnoticed compared to my other works.

Still, now that the story swap is over and the reveal has been done, the Fimfiction database will be modified so that the stories will be transferred to their true owners. Fluttershy Wishes will be back on my account, and Ninestempest will have Pink Dream.

In the end, it was a fun and informative experience for me.

And, as I said, this story swap has given me a much greater appreciation for all of you who follow my account and read my stories. Love you all so much! I hope I haven't made any of you made with this little switcheroo. It was done for the sake of fun and science. There was no ill-intent.

So, as a final word, I'm going to say that if you liked Pink Dream, go give Ninestempest some love. And, if you're interested, go check out the story I wrote for this swap, Fluttershy Wishes.

"TO LONG - DIDN'T READ" == BULLET LIST
1) I participated in the recent Story Swap event - more details in this blogpost
2) I traded my story, Fluttershy Wishes, for Ninestempest's story, Pink Dream
3) It was a fun experience that taught me a lot and made me love my readers even more
4) The stories will be put back onto the correct accounts of the authors who truly wrote them.
5) If you liked Pink Dream, go check out Ninestempest and the rest of his work
6) Check out Fluttershy Wishes, which is the story I gave for the swap.
7) Love you all and hope you're not mad.

Alrighty! I really liked Pink Dream, so I'll give Ninestempest a watch and read Fluttershy Wishes.
It always makes me feel good about humanity when the more popular writer does a swap with a lesser-known, or a popular tumblr does a collab with one that has a smaller following, etc. So my esteem for you, dear Pen Stroke, has risen considerably for you are now not only a good writer in my eyes, but a good person.

I think this idea was completely genius. I checked out Fluttershy Wishes, and was shocked to see the mal-attention it had. I can't wait to see the reactions now that it's on your profile.

Ninestempest deserves more recognition, I agree. In fact, I'll check him out right now.

Hmm, good to know. I'll go check Ninestempest out.

this experiment really made my day, you and the rest of the league are all incredibly awesome!:pinkiehappy:
i did notice that the style of writing in some recently published stories were a bit "off", not bad, just different

This is so true.

>Nothing is as it seems
Except for my custom banner, which is clearly Veggie55 and his manface waifu

I wasn't exactly "made" (I think that should be mad?) with the switcheroo, though it was sure confusing and a little irritating when I got a notification telling me someone had written a story, and then clicked on the link to find the story up under a different name. Now I know the meaning behind it, I'm feeling better about it. In fact, it's quite a nice idea. You thought about doing it again sometime? I could add more fics to my read-it list this way and find stuff that's good but less popular or more obscure (and hidden away among all the other fics as a result).
