    Ending and Moving Forward

It's been a long time coming, but we're coming up on the end of Diaries of the Anonymous Filly. There is one comparatively short chapter left (pending edit), and then the epilogue, however long it ends up. I considered dragging out the final story arc a bit longer, but honestly, I've come to a point where I'm comfortable leaving Anon's story.

    Something Neat I Found

So, like any normal author who writes fanfiction about a pony named Anon, I often browse the oc:filly anon tag on Derpibooru. Well, today while taking a look in there, I found something that really, really made me smile. Sure, these aren't my bug, Anonymous Flicker, but it's great to finally see some changeling queen Anon arts out there. I still positively squeed when I saw them.

Events to come and User Input

So now that Make Your Mark has reached its apparent conclusion, I have a vague outline for the path that Vlogs of an Ancient Insect may take. That said, I'm looking at concluding things at Roots of All Evil - Part 2 before going into an epilogue. Before I go too far with things, I thought I'd shake some things up with some community input on canon events.

    Chime in after the break.

    Going Forward

As it stands, there are two chapters currently completed, with one of them ready to go on Monday. After that is posted on Monday, I will be putting Diaries on a release and potential work hiatus until the new year. More thought needs to be put into the story's central final arc. Presently, we are in a cooldown from the Storm King's Invasion/Manehattan arcs, in what I tentatively think of as

Temporary Hiatus on Everything, I guess. · 4:38pm Sep 20th, 2015

I'm not going to lie, folks. Writing isn't doing anything for me, lately. Every time I sit down to write on a major project, I either just can't get anything I want to say out, or something else comes up to distract me. When the former comes up, I feel depressed, and when the latter occurs, I just start to feel stressed... and that's what I started writing to get away from. I've been trying to get around all of this by distracting myself with videogames, reading, et cetera, but that only makes me feel worse about my lack of writing. I don't wanna feel even worse by cancelling anything, so instead, I'm only putting my only open project on hiatus. I do intend on coming back to A Dance with Vengeance, and eventually A Blouse Unbuttoned, but first thing's first: I need to get my shit straightened out.

Say hello to an old friend.

That isn't to say I might not pop out with a new one-off story from time to time. In fact, I've been considering a one-off that brings back a certain character I put through hell a year or so back. Something about potions and poker. Mature, but not strictly clop. Just weird transformation shit.

Feel better. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'll listen.

3406726 Well, hope you feel better.

As a writer who's experienced burnout, I understand where you're coming from but at the same time I have a suggestion for you.

No, it's not 'muscle past it'.

It's to write complete and utter nonsense. Every day spend a little time and just plum the depths of your mind for the oddest things you can string together. Whether it's three words or a thousand, it helps if nothing else to stay in the habit of writing and of expressing yourself without the stigma of having to impress or meet someone's standards.

Three lingers about Two, but sadly One cares not for Three, lest Three crowd One but Two to Three meet Five, who works with One to care for Three while Two and One try and fail not to back down. Four, resents one for avoiding Three, and given the chance would give One no quarter but Eight always was twice Four, and insisted Four think of Two. Zero, however, could not be split any way in an argument, and insisted that they all get the hell out of his bedroom and argue somewhere else.

See? It's fun.

3423676 Part of my problem is that, lately, to write means to either hole up in my bedroom/office combo at my desktop—a choice which means I constantly need to keep an ear out for the needs of one of the many dogs our family contains—or putting up with the touchscreen on my tablet and the cringingly inefficient google docs app, in which I cannot even have the proper open/close quotes or my em dashes. In the past, most of my writing had been done on a laptop that had simply become mine by means of being the person who used it most, but of course, a computer can last only so long before it suffers some sort of hardware fault, and after ten years, that laptop finally met that one.

I did a writing competition on another pony site about a month ago and landed third place [granted, I didn't at all take the piece itself seriously], and although I'd considered posting it up here, I simply couldn't be bothered. It isn't a bad story, but it was simply... blah.

Like I mentioned at the end of the blog post, I've been tossing around a few ideas regarding a character you're slowly becoming familiar with, if your comments on When a Pony Calls are any indicator. Actually, more than a few now. Even a silly one surrounding Nightmare Night. Obviously telling more about it would spoil some things from When a Pony Calls's sequel for you.

Of course, there's also the whole reading addiction... and I'm not helping myself by getting addicted to Bravely Default, either.

Admittedly I am very much enjoying your writing style, so good work there. My suggestion wasn't to try to coerce you into continuing against comfort or anything though! I meant just jot something down, on a computer in notepad, on an actual notepad, on a napkin, what have you. Reason being just to keep your muse active. Plus, those little drabbles and such can evolve into full stories later if you have an interest. Make sense?

3424163 Yeah. I actually just acquired a notepad I can write in, fit in a hoodie pocket, and affix a pen to. Yay for scavenging things that might otherwise go into the trash.
