OC SlamJam Winners · 12:08am Sep 3rd, 2015
Hey guys! It's been a long and harsh road, but we're finally at the end of the OC SlamJam. With the votes tallied up, we finally have our winner:
Mango Leaf, taking it over Firefly at 7-4.
This leaves our winners as:
First Place: Mango Leaf
Second Place: Firefly
Third Place: Lilligold
Congratulations to all our winners! I think this has been one of the longest contests Fimfiction's ever seen, if not the longest outright, and it's no mean feat for every author who managed to make it this far. Big ups to everyone who participated in the whole shebang.
I'll be contacting everyone with respect to the prize distribution over the next couple days. In the meantime, take a bow, guys. You've earned it. Feel free to break anonymity now if you'd like, since there's no further reason to require it.
End of an Era. Well done to all who participated.
Congratulations to all the winners! It was definitely a lot of fun to read everything.
It was certainly something else. Learned a lot. Great job, everyone.
Mm, I had a great time between the points where I was tearing my hair out. For those who care, I announced who I was over on my retrospective blog. Yes, I'm not saying here just so that you'll go over to my blog. Yes, I'll make it easy for you.
Man. Though I was disappointed by the final (contested) round, I do think Mango deserved it overall.
Now just write that fucking wedding, you piece of--
n.b.: I have reviewed all the Slamjam stories, but I'm waiting on confirmation of at least the semifinalist authors if not also the quarterfinalists before posting. Obs, are you gonna post 'em all or just let people say if they wanna?
I'd kill for a second chance to show everyone how much I've improved since getting ousted, but all the same, I'm proud to have been involved in this contest and gotten to read so many varied and wonderful stories and 'meeting' such a vast assortment of OCs which I'd love to see in future stories from their respective authors.
Also, here's a message from Candy Cane's author:
"I had so much fun with this contest! Congrats to Mango Leaf for winning! "
Best wishes to everyone.
Hey everyone, Oddluck here! I'm getting all the contestants together to do a major multi collab! Let me know if you want to join!
Also, this was an awesome contest. I've seen contest all over this site, but I've never seen any like this one. This has been by far the best. congratulations Mango.
I'm going have to read through the whole entire contest just to see what everyone came up with.

I'm not going to post the full list up myself. Some people may, for whatever reason of their own, prefer to hold onto anonymity post-contest, so I won't unveil them unless they want to come forward on their own.

That's what I figured. I'll have to keep tabs on dinoguy's post, then.
It's been a great ride, everyone, and I'm glad to have taken it with you all. Hope we can all keep in touch :')

Just so it's in as many places as possible, I'll let y'all know that I was Lilligold's author. I have a blog about my experience in the Slamjam in the works, but for now I'll just say that this was one of the most fun, enrapturing, and downright challenging experiences in all my time writing. If I could redo it, I totally would. Thanks for making it such a blast, everyone!
Good contest, everyone, and congrats to the winners. Not sure I'd do it again, but it was fun and hella stressful while it lasted.
For anyone that's keeping tabs, I was Ace Artisan's author. I'll post a blog about it eventually, but suffice to say I'm proud of most of the work I did, though it was super disappointing to lose in the quarters only to have Evergreen disappear completely.
To Evergreen: good match. I was rooting for you. If you happen to see this, please contact me. I could really use the closure.
Yeah, I was Price Back.
Even though I was voted out way back in Round 2, I'm still glad I participated. It taught me a lot about timed writing (i.e. when you've got a good idea for the story, don't abandon it when you're halfway done), as well as to begin writing THE SECOND YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE FACING. What killed me the most in the Second Round with Lilligold was that the story I submitted was practically a last-minute writing; the other idea I had was a lot stronger, but my procrastination prevented me from fully fleshing it out.
But oh well. Lilligold's author wrote some fine stories during their run and got to 3rd place (further than I'd have ever gotten), so it was probably for the best. Besides, this contest gave me several ideas of how to utilize the Price Back character in future stories, so it wasn't a waste of time for me.
Thanks for the experience, folks! I hope the rest of you got something out of it, too.
I was Static Shower. Despite having been blown out round one, I was pleased that people enjoyed my writing, as it's the second piece of mine that's been publicly viewed. Ever.
So to read in the comments that my writing quality was quite good and that, had my opponent (Iron Curtain) not written as brilliant of a story as they had I would certainly have received their votes, gives me confidence enough to write something that I'll freely post to Fimfic. Eventually...
A hearty applause to all the authors who participated and utmost congratulations to the finalists. And Obselescence? I'm honoured to have participated in your contest!

For anyone who's interested, I've tracked confirmed authors and which OC they wrote since early in the contest; it can be found over here. There's still a lot of gaps, though, so if anyone knows something I've missed, please point it out! Also, if you happen to know the identity of an OC's author, poke them to see if they're interested/willing to confirm it, or will allow you to do so!
