Warhammer Equis: A Fantasy Conversion of the FIM Universe Idea for Bronies to try

Has anyone here played tabletop games? Admittingly my only exposure to this was that I used to buy Lord of the Rings minatures from Games Workshop, to those who don't know one of the most sucessful companies centered around tabletop gaming, and painted them. Unfortuneatly I never found anyone nearby who I could learn how to play the game from so they just became toys I would mess around with by

    The Dark Crystal

Does anyone remember the Jim Henson Fantasy 'The Dark Crystal'? I watched it online a few years ago, a dark but charming film were all the characters were exteremly detailed puppets, featuring many unique and creative races (no humans) and each set hand designed to such a degree some of them can fool your eyes into thinking its a living breathing world. The story itself was fairly simple

    Merry Christmas Everyone!

Just thought I'd post a little something to get everyone in the Christmas Spirit. Two songs which in my opinion really sum up the true meaning of Christmas, songs which I personally sang recently at a local concert last week. God bless us, everyone....

Are we taking MLP FIM too seriously?

As we all know Friendship is Magic has certainly become a very popular and surprisingly successful cartoon, perhaps not on the level of shows like Animaniacs, Courage the Cowardly Dog, the Batman Animated Series and several others of that ilk, but certainly one of the more successful. And of course it gave rise to us, the Bronies, one of the most unlikely and unexpected fan groups to ever emerge

Warhammer Equis: A Fantasy Conversion of the FIM Universe Idea for Bronies to try · 9:14pm Aug 27th, 2015

Has anyone here played tabletop games? Admittingly my only exposure to this was that I used to buy Lord of the Rings minatures from Games Workshop, to those who don't know one of the most sucessful companies centered around tabletop gaming, and painted them. Unfortuneatly I never found anyone nearby who I could learn how to play the game from so they just became toys I would mess around with by myself as a child, but nonetheless I have maintained an interest in this form of game and after seeing the Demo for Warhammer: Total War and doing a bit of research into Warhammer Fantasy, I've come up with a really crazy idea for someone to try. Why not create a Warhammer inspired game that featured a total conversion of the characters and setting of Equestria into a Medieval Fantasy setting? And I don't just mean a carbon copy of what we see in the show, but a fleshed out and unique world seperate yet taking inspiration from both FIM and Warhammer?

I've come up with a basic idea for this but I think an idea like this requires the imagination of multiple people to truly take off, so here's what I have so far;

Setting: The realm of Ceffyr (Taken from the Welsh word for Horse) otherwise known as Equestria to Bronies, a small but advanced Kingdom in the centre of the continent of Mundo. It is home to dozens of different people from all over the continent, but the most prominent are the Humans of Kaer Celes (Canterlot), ruled by the Sun King Solarin VI, Duke of Kaer Celes, Lord Commander of Stratsdale (Cloudsdale), Chancellor of Applewood, Lord of the Three Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.

Peace has reigned over this realm for two hundered years, ever since the unification of the three kingdoms into one, the peace bringing great prosperity and plenty to the realm. But now at the height of their happiness an ancient foe stirs once again, this time within the Kingdoms own borders. There are those who wish to bring down this land and bring all who live there under their heel. The forces of Chaos and Destruction, the terrifying weilders of Dark Magic and Necromancy, the corrupted and the fallen, these and many more seek this nations destruction and/or enslavement, and it is up to the strength and will of its people to save it.

Kingdoms and Races: Harmony
Ceffyr - Made up of three previously divided people who came together to drive back the threat of the Frost Demons of the North (the Windigos)
1) Remn
A cultured and learned people who at one time boasted to being the most intellectual and civilised people in the kingdom, and it was no baseless claim. Their capital of Kaer Celes has some of the best schools, universities, archives, hospitals, an intricate public water supply and its society encourages free speach (to an extent) and scientific experimentation. But it also comes with the price of arrogance among its citizens, for whilst they promote equality for their own citizens, many tend to look down on others from different walks of life and from outside the city, and competition is rife in all walks of life, especially in the sphere of politics, where politicans continously compete with each other for power and influence. The people of Remn are proud and when united are a force to be reckoned with, but if they cannot put aside their differences in the face of a greater threat, their pride might very well be their fall.

2) Athrus
A chivalric nation home to some of the best and most disciplined Knights in the three kingdoms, the City of Stratsdale is made up of three layers, one built at the foot of the Northern mountains on a wide flat plain, home to the ordinary folk, the farmers, craftsmen, traders, farriers, smithy's ect. The second is built on the bottom slopes of said mountain, home to the middle class and the lower nobility, Knights, Squires, Priests, Merchants and the like. Then on the top tier dwell the Nobility and the Grand Master/Mistress, a king in all but name, the Grand Master is responisible for both the city and the military, a mixture of professional soldiers and heraldric Knights. Athrus has long been stuck as a Feudal nation with Knights and Lords holding prominance over the peasantry, but all that would change with the asscenion of current Grand Mistress Halmia the Just, whose reforms have improved both society and the army, but have angered more than a few nobles whose comfort was cut short by her actions.

3) Applewood - The smallest yet most reseliant of the three kingdoms, Applewood rests between the borders of Remn to the North, the mysterious Forest of Lokarn (Everfree) to the East, the mountains of Athrus to the West and the flowing River Hayseed to the South. The Kingdom is made up of one large valley interupted by occasional groups of trees and a few low roling hills, but is mostly made up of the most fertile farmland in all the kingdoms, tended by dilligent and determined farmers harderned through hard labour and fighting through unpredictable weather. This has lead many to believe the folk of Applewood are stubborn, hard-headed and inflexible, but that my friend is far from the truth. The best way to describe an Applewoodian is to compare them to the harvests they tend, strong like the trees, but flexing with the wind like the grass. Among their number are some of the best craftsmen, hunters, scouts, heavy cavalry and engineers in the kingdom. If you want a job done right, an Applewoodian is a good choice.

Armies (so far)
Harmony - Ceffyr
1) Remn - A citizen raised army based mostly around heavily armoured infantry, magic, balanced cavalry (the most elite knights and mages ride Unicorns) and heavy artillery (gunpowder weapons)
2) Athrus - A cavalry based army supported by flying Pegasai and Griffon mounted Knights, Longbowmen and Halberdiers. Weak on artillery
3) Applewood - Best archers and heavy infantry in the kingdom, efficent machinery and seige weapons, heavy cavalry (no light)
Allied Kingdoms
4) Empire of Boreas - Mostly mounted units with the inclusion of Griffins and Hippogriffs backed up by levied peasant armies. Favouring hit and run tactics over a straightforward engagement and makes use of mounted and foot archers to weaken the enemy before delivering a final punch with the mounted vangard (mostly made up of Griffin Knights)

Discord
1) Chaos Horde - Monsters, corrupted and mutated men, basically the Warhammer chaos hordes with Lord Tirek at their head (no not Discord, I see him as more an anti hero then an actual villain)
2) Changelings and Undead - Shapeshifting soldiers trained to attack quickly and efficently. Undead hordes created through necromancy to use as canon fodder, the real strength of a Changeling horde is to infiltrate, confuse and corrupt from behind enemy lines, but in battle they can be just as devious and cunning.
3) Children of the Nightmare - supporters of the Nightmare entity, made up mostly of creatures of the night, werewolves, vampires, renegade men, beasts of the forest (Ursa majors, Timber Wolves, Chimera's ect).

Beasts and Fantastic creatures (more to come)

Unicorns
Pegasai
Alicorns
Griffins
Hippogriff's
Manticores
Minotaurs
Centaurs
Giants
Chimeras
Hellhound
Bugbear
Timber Wolves
Ursas
Dragons
