    Virus 2020

I do hope everyone is staying safe and sane. This Covid crap has crippled a lot of businesses and many economies will be suffering for a while.
Just keep your head up and don't panic. There is life after this madness.
    Be well.

    What is to come.

Taking into account feedback and my own thoughts on the matter, here is currently my plan moving forward. Subject to change if necessary.
    1) An epilogue chapter will be done to cap the current main story into Book 1. This will not end the main storyline, only to leave a solid stopping point for the next part of the story.

I am not dead yet. Really, I'm feeling better.

If you get the quote, you get a gold star or a cookie or a gold cookie? I dunno, better than coconuts I guess.
So, long story short, life can be a brutal, brutal thing. And while I may not have it nearly as bad as others, it's rough to shoulder things on your own.

    Horse Noises

    *Horse Noises*
    *Horse Gestures*
    *Frustrated Horse Noises*
    *Horse Head Bobbing*
    *Horse Tailflick*
    *Finishing Horse Noises*

And for those of you who do not speak Equestrian, I guess I'll translate.
While the world has not fallen upon my head, spare time has been a bit tougher to come by.

yeah, but it's depressing when a little one-shot teen-rated 4k word fic gets 7k views and 7k thumbs-up. I'm left going. WTF. Why am I bothering with this epic 100k+ story with only 119 likes? :applecry:

I recently wrote my first fic and if I hadn't, I really wouldn't have understood how important this is but damn you're right.

Don't worry about it. Those are primarily favorited and thumbed by ponies with the attention spans of hamsters. or those who don't read anything not already complete.

Besides, you should be writing for you, to tell the story you want to tell. You do that, and you'll get all the likes you need.

Indeed. Even if ponies don't feel like commenting on the story itself. The thumb-up system is an easy way of saying, "Hey, I'm digging this, keep it up!" Or if it's thumbs-down, you have to wonder why and see if you can fix the problems.

I know. Just a bit of jealousy at times. I kinda knew what I was getting myself into, deciding to make it a mature fic. Still wish more would drop by and give it a go. Don't get me wrong, I love all y'all that take time to comment on the story. The conversations help me tweak future chapters towards a particular angle I was shooting for. :rainbowdetermined2:

I noticed that same problem earlier tonight, with your new chapter. I fixed it. :moustache:

Oh thank Celestia I already thumbed! I was afraid you were talking to me! :twilightoops:

I love the story, DGMR, but I want to see how it ends before I thumbs up. :derpytongue2:

I'm with you on this one bro, I got like 40 or 50 favs on my story, but it only has 11 likes. WTF :twilightangry2:

Your story is amazing. I would even say that it is the highlight of my day to be able sit down and read the latest chapter. You're right, it deserves way more.

I double checked for you. My thumb is still pointing towards the moon. I cant really give you two thumbs up. Well, I guess I could but I think it would kinda be like cheating.
I love your story and I think many of the concepts you have brought up regarding relationships is how it would work out. Except for heat. I dont like the idea of heat in sentient creatures... but you do it well enough I can look past it.

A few reasons I decided to stick with the concept of estrus in ponies. For one thing, it allows them to be sexually active without worrying about unwanted foals. Thus, lessening orphans/abandonment. It also helps allows ponies to pursue careers in being Pleasure Ponies without fear of being knocked up. I also use a lot of genetic/biological concepts from horses to give me a grounding in how the ponies work. Also, it's a little sexy to think about a mare who wants a colt that bad. In a society so filled with mares and so few colts. I suspect estrus is that extra incentive for a colt to settle down with a mare. You'll notice that I took time to think about how the Princesses created laws to help protect the mares against colts that might take advantage of them. Equestria is a generally happy and affectionate society. I wanted to show that despite realistic issues like estrus in a sentient society, the ponies are still a kind and affectionate race. They are herd creatures at their roots.

Anyhoof, those are some of the reasonings. Besides, it does make for some interesting writing material. :scootangel:

Wow, been like a month since I had a thumbs-down. Then I get one out of the blue today. Harsh. If only they'd tell me why. :applecry:
