Progress update - A Trusted Friend in Science and Ponies · 3:48am Aug 15th, 2015
Hey everyone! Just a quick update. It's been a year since I've decided to go ahead with this rewrite. And I just wanted to give everyone a progress report. I just did a word count, and I'm currently standing at about 75,000 words of new material. That's almost double the word count of Better Living. It was more than I expected to be honest. So that's my "words per year" rate for last year. I suppose it could be better, but it could be worse. I know I'm slow. It's hard to find time to write, but I still make the time whenever I can.
As far as chapters go, I've currently completed 9 chapters, though I've been writing them somewhat out of order, since I'm using a chapter-by-chapter alternating POV. I just finally finished chapter 8, which was a lengthy beast, but hopefully one you'll enjoy, since I put a lot of effort into that one. I haven't titled the chapters yet, but perhaps I'll get creative and give them some cool names. I plan for the first act to have 12 chapters, so I still have to write 2 Chell chapters and 1 GLaDOS chapter. Once that's all done and revised, I'll post all these chapters all at once. After that, you'll have enough to keep yourselves busy reading for a while.
Hopefully it won't take much longer to finish act I. And I hope even more that you will find it more enjoyable than my original version. I will say that act I spends its time building up to the action that will unfold in the second act, as opposed to the way I originally went about it to build it up quickly for it to then burn out. My friend has been stringent on making me delete filler and wasteful material, so take that as solace if you will. I'm taking this story very seriously. I'm striving for the best I can do.
I've gotten a surprising amount of additional likes and followers without being on the front page or me trying to promote the story in any way. So I want to give a big thanks to all my new followers and those who've liked or added my story to their favorites.

Glad to know that, even after a year, progress is still going along smoothly.
Looking forward for the moment where you'll bring all your hard work out for us. Like I said, I want to get this story out of the Sequelitis trope page.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and when the time comes when you get to publish all those chapters, you might wanna consider altering the story's short description. Try changing it to one that actually describes the story. No offence, but I have no idea how it passed moderation with that short description.

Oh, yeah, that description is bad. I wrote that three years ago. The art is outdated as well, truth be told.

I agree it looks good, but it depicts the Combine invasion, and I cut out everything Half-Life related. Though no one noticed originally. I'm hesitant to change it.

Well, the tower that's part of the background is a combine thing, but that almost looks too cool to change. I'd need a new background. I might get around to changing that out to something else, but I'm not in a rush to do so. Better work on that description and those remaining chapters first.
