A few fic recommendations · 8:06am Aug 2nd, 2015
First off, hi to anyone who's following me. Dunno why you'd do such a silly thing, I'm not that interesting. 
Anyway! I've been hanging around this website for about a year and I've read quite a few good stories(as I very well should), but I've also noticed a few that deserve more attention than they got. I'll share a couple of them here:
(All of these do admittedly have Sex as one of the tags, but all things considered it really isn't too heavy)
Admittedly this one has a decent amount of views, but it never seemed to take off like it deserved to. It's a rather interesting HiE story about Carrot Top trying to woo a a human couple and it's got some great moments in it that I really enjoyed. I will say this though: the ending felt like a rather nasty slap in the face that I reckon destroyed all the character building that the story had created. I'm not sure what the author was going for, but it didn't get pulled off cleanly. Nevertheless, it's a good story.
An interesting one, this. The first thing you'll notice off the bat is the brevity of the chapters, but honestly I think it fits the fragmented thinking of the main character and doesn't feel too jarring. Just put yourself in her position: randomly transmogrifying into a creature with no arms and legs and struggling to breathe? I can't really imagine what I'd do myself.
(Also, why do I keep seeing the word "breath" being used as a substitute for "breathe"? Is it an American thing? Either way it bugs me.
)
But anyway. It's an interesting piece of work, although it does get a bit meta near the end. Check it out.
This story is the most risque of the bunch, although honestly that doesn't mean too much here. 
Pleather-bound Heart follows the story of a unicorn called Enigma, an adult toy designer in an abusive relationship. After many months of fighting and not being able to do his work, he makes an escape from his relationship and does his best to get back into what he loves doing. It's a very good story with a nice little character dynamic, which is why it baffles me that the poor thing has only 5 upvotes. Heck, my silly little one-shot has more than that and I wrote it for a contest! It really deserves more love and while the story itself is finished, I'm kind of holding out hope that we'll get to see more of Enigma in the future.
So there you have it, Blackstone's little list of gems. I might do a few more of these if I can find enough fics that sorely deserve attention. Peace out.
