Why I'm Not Working On "Mareth's New Champion" Anymore · 3:28pm Jul 17th, 2015
TL;DR version: I'm sick of this story and want nothing to do with it anymore.
Okay, now that that's out of the way, onto the details. So basically, I've realized recently that this story is just a complete and total mess. People keep asking me what Spike looks like at this point in the story. Well, that is a good question. One that even I don't know at this point. It's gotten so bad that I had plans to just have him find an item that would reset his appearance to start fresh from. Oh, but that wouldn't go over well with the audience, I just know it.
And then there's the fact that this story is barely able to classify as an MLP story at all! I mean really, sure it starts in Equestria and the main character is a dragon named Spike. But in what way aside from that is he Spike? This story belongs someplace like FurAffinity, not FiMFic.
And then there's just the simple fact that this story is no longer fun to write. I get ideas, but the moment I put them in to the story I realize that they no longer sound as good as they did in my head. I hate writing the sex, but if I take away the sex then it won't feel like a proper Corruption of Champions crossover anymore. And don't get me started on why this doesn't work as a CoC crossover.
So basically, I'm done with this, for now at least. I'm going to spend some time writing other things. Shorter things that I'll have less time to feel ashamed for while writing them.
Right now I'm working on another Spike clopfic story that I'm calling Barbzilla. That's all I'm sharing about it, I've gotten the first segment done and am not going to post anything until it is completely finished.

3245859 To me I thought that was always your plan, and you hinted to my thoughts before, Spike the noble and naive hero, and a world that takes the naive, and twists them. How would he be able if at all return from this when he could escape, would he leave behind all that he had gained (Items, lovers and/or his changes.) would he be accepted even with his changes in personality and being, his opened mind to sex and his need for it. Spike is adapting to his surroundings, will he survive will he get away from the torment this will undoubtedly cause.
This very much is a Fimfic story as its a story of Spike's journey to survive and battle in a corrupted and twisted world. That is what a FIMFIC is about a character from MLP:FIM taking a different rout then they would in the show or released comics.
I am not attempting to convince you to not give up the story that is your choice am just trying to dispel some doubts for you, I am honestly just glad you said it. Makes me sad but I am at the point am just happy a author will tell us if he stopping or not.

Sad to say, yeah the writing was going down the drain near the end. Started off well and slowly fizzled out. Even so, i still enjoyed the ride to the very end. Shame to see ideas go out, but it happens to the best of us. Hope you can find an author who will continue it and let it live up to it's full potential. I'd offer but i kinda have my hands full and tied at the moment. Good luck to you.
3246574 Yeah, that was the initial idea, but as it went on it felt less and less like I was even using Spike as the main character. Mainly because he didn't have much character to him. Which I guess would be fine if this was JUST a CoC fic, since the champion is a bit like that if I remember correctly.
