Regarding requests, crossovers, and future projects · 1:30am Jul 17th, 2015
With a bunch of real-life stuff coming up in the next month, I figured it might be a good idea to talk about what my plans are for future artwork and what my watchers can expect in the coming months. Right now I have two requests to do, and after that requests will be closed for a while. This is because while I like doing requests, I had no idea I would get so many when I first opened them, and I really need to focus on my own projects for a while (seriously though, I have a 10-page Word document of art ideas.) There’s so much I want to improve on, so I want to spend some time to practice with more dynamic poses, extreme angles, lighting effects, backgrounds…yeah pretty much practicing everything.
Regarding crossovers, the Lord of the Rings crossover is my priority. I’ve done four characters so far, which leaves many more to do! I was looking over the character list I’d made and realized that I’ll very likely be doing this crossover for at least a year, if not longer. What I want to do is have a drawing for each character and also do little comics ponifying scenes from the films. If anyone would like me to do a specific scene or line just let me know and I might add it to the list! These drawings will continue to be posted here on my FF blog as well as DA. I’ll be continuing the Madoka Magica crossover drawings as well in the near future. As for the far future, I have a Pokemon crossover planned out but since I haven’t drawn Pokemon in FOREVER I’ll need to practice quite a bit for doing any official drawings.
I will soon be continuing an idea I had for a story with OC ponies that I started a few months ago but only made a few sketches for. All I can say right now is that it involves alicorns, space, and creation mythology, and it will be a combination of drawings and short writing drabbles. I’m thinking about posting these on my blog, like my LotR drawings.
And for things coming up in the near future, in celebration of the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage, I’ll be doing some quick drawings based on the LGBTQA PRIDE flags. I’ve got four of these planned out at the moment, and three have been sketched, so I hope to have them uploaded soonish.
Despite all of the drawings I’m planning to do, I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to get done since I’ll be moving to another city in August/September. At first I’ll live with friends, but I’ll need to find a job, a place to volunteer to get more zoo experience, and my own place. So I’m going to be really busy in the coming months and will probably have less time to draw than I do now. I also want to get into studying Japanese again because I’ve been neglecting it since graduating. I’ll need to find a way to balance drawing and Japanese because I have a tendency to get obsessed with one hobby while neglecting the others. I’m also thinking of making a new Tumblr blog specifically for my art, where I can post things I wouldn’t put on DA, like WIPs, rough sketches, random doodles, etc. in addition to my completed works.

As for LOTR crossovers, could I suggest you draw one of the ponies as Tom Bombadil, maybe singing the "Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow/Bright blue his jacket is and his boots are yellow/ None have ever caught him yet, for Tom he is the master/his songs are stronger songs, and his feet are faster" song? Old Tom wasn't in the movie, but he's in the book.
(As you can tell, I am very much a fan of Old Tom!)
And could I also suggest Chrysalis as the Barrow-Wight, saying the "Cold be hand and heart and bone/and cold be sleep under stone/never more to wake on stony bed/never, til the sun fails and the moon is dead./In the dark wind the stars shall die/and still on gold here let them lie/until the Dark Lord lifts his hand/over dead sea and withered land" incantation/spell thing?
That scene is also in the book but not the film.
You know, I'd been wondering who I could have Zecora be, and was about to just not include her altogether, but now I think I'll have her be Tom Bombadil! Thanks for the suggestion! I'd forgotten about him.
I'll think about the Barrow-Wight. I'm having Chrysalis be Saruman, though I might draw her saying that line just for kicks and because it sounds cool.
3244458 It's up to you! Sombra could work as the Barrow-Wight too, but he'd also work as Sauron, same with Nightmare Moon. But yeah, the Barrow-Wight's awesomely creepy incantation was to kill the Hobbits when they wound up in a barrow, but then Old Tom saved them- loved that scene! And I LOVE the idea of Zecora being Tom Bombadil! I can't wait to see what you draw!
Yep, Sombra will be Sauron. I'm thinking maybe a Windigo could work for the Barrow-Wight, since I've yet to include them in the crossover.
3244503 I forgot about the Windigos! A windigo would be perfect, especially considering the Barrow-Wight mentioned cold so much! And Sombra is perfect as Sauron!
