Quill Scratch

Dubs Rewatcher once described me as "an intense literary analyst". I describe me as "a room of monkeys with typewriters."

  • TLast Kisses
Everything must come to an end, even our favourite ships. Written for Bloomsday 2015 as an exploration of endings, each chapter details the final kiss of a different pair of the mane six through prose, verse, and more.

Last Kisses Will Probably Update This Weekend
Also the next chapter will be RariJack and is currently being written (in Microsoft Excel. Don't ask). Because some of you like crazy modernist-inspired horsewords, it seems. I'm looking at you, Dubs :raritywink:

Vows Is Actually Being Written
I said I'd write a thing back in April and then I didn't. Since it's another Camp NaNo right now, I figured I'd give it another go. I have started and I think it's going quite well. Do you guys want another 50k+ TwiDash Romance/Tragedy fic? Because if you don't, tough—you're getting one.

I've Got A Job!
Okay, it's a paid internship, but that's still good, right? I'm a Projects Analyst (which roughly translates as "the guy who copies stuff in and out of spreadsheets", from what I've seen so far) with Lloyds Banking Group. Banks literally have so much money I won't lie it kinda scares me a little the numbers in my spreadsheets are too big :raritydespair:

I'm Going To Be Doing Some Charity Stuff
I've been signed up for a charity challenge as part of my internship, so I figured I could use this as a chance to do something I've always wanted to do: 50kDay. For those not in the know, that's an insane speed-writing challenge where mad people like me try to write 50,000 words in 24 hours. I guess I'll be blogging a bit more about this closer to the time, but I figured you guys might like to hear about it in advance. We're raising money for BBC Children in Need, which is an awesomerific cause.

Also I'm probably going to try to do some fundraising stuff when Vows is finished for more personal reasons, that are also kinda spoilers so I'm gonna shut up now.

Also I Missed A Writeoff
Like, entirely. It actually kinda upsets me that not only did I miss out on entering a fic this round (I blame exams), but I also couldn't find time or motivation to review in the one-week I had to prepare for moving halfway across the country for an internship. I'm even more disappointed 'cos I had an awesome idea that I kinda want to write still. We'll see how Last Kisses and Vows go first before committing to anything else, I think.

I have been waiting for the spreadsheet Rarijack ever since you mentioned it in Skype. Get hype!

I mean, it's probably still going to crush me in sadness with the inevitable implications of being a last kiss, but still.

Nice to hear you have a job. The only time I ever see much money is when I look at the several $1000 bill I have. Unfortunately, on the note, where on a British note it says 'I promise to pay the bearer on demand', it says 'To be paid six months after the ratification of a treaty of peace between the Confederate States and United States'. So yeah, nopony's going to cash that. :ajsleepy:

I'm still hunting myself. I would have gotten a job with HSBC, but right at the last minute (as in 'I'm waiting for the call to go to interview') they send me a automatic message saying the post has been removed due to the branch being closed. :flutterrage: Still, I'll find something soon enough.

Great to hear you are planning to do some stuff for Children in Need too. Though I still can't fathom how you write so much. :trollestia:

3197741 Says the guy who just finished a 343k fic :derpytongue2:

Incidentally, when I get paid in a few weeks I'm going to buy my tickets for BUCK. I'm already so excited for that, and it's not for soooo loooong :fluttershysad: :pinkiehappy: I've already had a chat with the organisers about possibly doing The Game Princesses Play workshop again, 'cos that was way too much fun, and they've said they'll email me when they're organising individual events

Wow, so many emoticons. I might as well just use them instead of punctuation...

3197443 My fanfics are spreadsheets, and now my job is spreadsheets. Soon enough my dreams will be spreadsheets. If you see a table and numbers next writeoff, I think we'll all know who submitted that one :ajsleepy:

3197818 Hey, it took the better part of two years :trixieshiftleft: And until you get past the first visit to Canterlot, some of it is so clichéd and ill concieved that all that is missing is the red and black alicorn. :pinkiesick: The only way I published as fast as I did (1 chapter per week) was to write seven or so chapters before submitting the story to the mods. That way, I was always writing at least a month ahead, and I had time to cope with writers block and that strange phenomenon called 'life'.

I hope you do get the go ahead to play the game. If all goes well, any chance I can be a ref? I've been doing some research recently on some of the older rule sets, including 1634 Hanoverian version. :trollestia: Nopony's played the game that way since the Third Griffon War. :derpyderp2:
