It's about tough... it's always about tough anymore. My other account has had three new stories in the past month alone, but this one? All I wanna write on this account is tough. I feel like (not to brag) the first chapter of tough was the single most wonderful chapter I have ever written and now I'm so scared to keep going that I physically can't and whenever I try, I fall asleep 'cause of the stupid sixty hour weeks at the factory. If anyone at all is interested in shouldering me through the next chapter, pushing me to finish it, or just offering advice in general, I am all ears.
I love this story and I don't want to let it die, just because I'm too scared I'm gonna screw everything up. But, I am terrified that the last two chapters won't be nearly as good as the first...
Alright. I'm gonna do something that sounds a bit like self-promotion, but I promise you it's relevant to your case.
In 2012, I got the idea to tackle a shipfic involving Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. I wanted to do a fic that was JUST about a relationship. No fuss, no drama, so I started writing. It took off pretty well, and before long, I found myself in the same position you're in, though to be fair, my first chapter was a bit rockier than yours. (because I was still learning.)
So, frustrated and unsure what to do, I threw everything, including my original plan, completely out the window. Eventually, that story went bananas and well outside what I had planned for it. The rest of the story was released about a year later and wasn't what I set out to do at all. That being said, I'm glad I did it.
First, I'm glad I pushed through and didn't leave my readers in the cold. Second, even though it wasn't what my original vision called for, it still worked out well.
This is that story.
The worst thing you can do, is to do nothing. Even if you have to break away from your intended goal or expectations, it's better to finish, than to walk back halfway through.
Good luck.
