Sunset Shimmer and Fluttershy have long since buried the hatchet on the way Sunset Shimmer had treated her before Twilight showed her the way. Now friends, attending the same college, they are both snowed in over the holidays.

Though she holds no resentment any longer, Fluttershy does question Sunset Shimmer's motives for her high-school torture. How will Sunset Shimmer answer her questions, and how will their bond develop after Fluttershy learns of the true reasons for Sunset's resentment towards her in high-school?

Their friends watch over them both, hoping that both of their broken hearts can be mended. All six of them will grow in their final summer before attending college and for better or worse, their relationships will change.

She spends the anniversary in the human world crying beneath the statue that acts as the gateway between the two worlds. As she arrives home she considers closing the portal, but later discovers that by leaving it open, she saves a life. A life will be shared with the young mare and a broken heart mended as she tends to the one that arrives through the portal.
