Avenging-Hobbits

A nerd who thought it would be cool to, with the help of a few equally insane buddies adapt the entire Marvel Universe (with some DC Comics thrown in for kicks) with My Little Pony...wish me luck

I arise from the grave exclusively to say that the 2021 MLP movie was lit. I’m hyped for G5

    Opening Commissions

I know it probably looks weird, considering my inactivity, but I figured I'd at least try to motivate myself into writing again by sprinkling in commission work. Also, I'm in a bit of a money pit, and will be moving relatively soon, so I figured I should try to supplement my income.

There's gold in them thar smut, after all.

Area Man Not Dead, Just a Lazy Bastard

Okay, I feel I should say that no, I am in fact, not dead.

    Sorry to disappointed.

Life has been busy, chaotic, and generally messy, but the good news is that since MLP is about to enter its final series of episodes, I figure I should just sit it out, and let the series end, before beginning my attempts to reboot any of my projects.

Perhaps I should undergo a reincarnation

Its been tugging at me, but I've been seriously considering of reinventing my account.

Basically, I'd create a new account, and then focus on that revised version of Harmony's Warriors I mentioned in my last blog post, and post it to that new account.

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

First things first, I'm not dead.

I've just been working on other things, and generally trying to collect my thoughts regarding Harmony's Warriors, since I've hit a horrific dry-spell.

After much thought, and talk with the venerable and honorable nightcrawler-fan, I've decided it's best to do what's basically a low-key reboot/refurbishing of the Universe.

Review: Jurassic World (2015) · 2:59am Jun 14th, 2015

Well...

That was a disappointment.

Like, I didn't expect the quality of the first film at all, since this is the fourth film in the franchise, and trying to compare it to the original, iconic masterpiece is unfair to it. I mean, I don't even it tried to be as good as the original, but rather do its own thing. So if you expect an angry fanboy rant, don't worry. Of course, one can't review a sequel without at least mentioning the original, and so expect me to do at least some compare and contrast.

That being said, I was still disappointed in it.

Colin Trevorrow is a far cry from Spielberg, let that be clear. Trevorrow's direction is confused and unfocused, veering from tacky cheese to tacky horror and back again. The pacing is off, moving either far too fast or far too slow, and the screenplay is a confused, muddled mess that it just left me frustrated. The characters are either terribly underdeveloped or unlikable, and their motivations are either utterly silly, or very vague. It's humor is juvenile, and it has no real heart to it either.

The acting is also lackluster, with Chris Pratt being surprisingly uncharismatic as Owen, the Raptor Whisperer. He came across more as a dudebro then a badass adventurer, and has none of the charisma or likability that Sam Neill or Jeff Goldblum had.

Bryce Dallas Howard is also not really good either, her character being a workaholic who neglects her nephews, and just generally lacks sympathy or real relateability. Her 'romance' with Pratt is inexplicable, with no proper build up or organic flow. Its just 'poof! romance!'

The two kids are a mixed batch. Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3) is the better of the two, feeling genuine and relatable in the role. However, his brother is a selfish jerk, who spends the movie caressing the idiot ball and just being a general jerk. I seriously wished dinosaur caused death upon him, only to see him survive and survive and survive, only to grate more and more on my nerves.

Whatever drugs Vincent D'Onofrio was on to make him so hyped, I want them. Its one of the hammeist villain roles I've ever seen to be honest, even if his motivations are utterly insane and stupid.

The rest of the cast just kinda blurrs into each other, not really leaving an impact...except this one jerk who wears a Jurassic Park shirt and spends the movie being the 'Nedry' in that he's a computer geek. He's just an insensitive, snarky jerk who spends the movie backtalking and generally complaining. God how I wished he could die.

As for the dinos, they look okay, if noticeably rubbery. When compared to the original however, the puppets still look better. Its kinda a bummer, since the original came out 23 years ago.

Overall though, I felt the film was a resounding disappointment. The characters unlikable, the plot completely stupid, the dialogue terrible, and a general feeling of being underwhelming.

I suppose one could find enjoyment if you turned your brain off completely, as it does have lots of cheese potential, mostly due to how dumb the plot and characters are.

But for me, its a 2 star movie. Not offensive like Age of Ultron, just very, very disappointing.

it got very good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, so im not so sure. i havnt seen it yet so ill reserve final judgment until i do. im not expecting it to be stellar, but if it can hold at least fifteen second of fun and repeat those fifteen seconds than it should be ok...

Look on the bright side; we could have gotten this instead

3148911 well, arguably, it would have been the best kind of insane

Anyways, its a plot point in Jurassic World that they wanna make Dino Soldiers, so I mean, why not go full bizzare and have them talking and wielding machine guns while still being dinosaurs. I would give an arm and a leg for that

I find I both agree and disagree with you on the film. I hated the villain, Pratt was playing an ex-military guy who got into dino wrangling (!). I did not go to see the movie for the characters. The story and acting was B quality, but I expected that and dismissed it as such. That being said, I have a soft spot for B movies.

The direction of the film was two sided, but the film moved along and never dragged. I do agree with the confusion, but I went to be entertained. I hated the villain. He was a single minded moron. The overall theme seemed to focus on powerful corporations doing whatever they liked. The stereotyping did dominate.

Overall, I did like the film. It was a fun movie with not a lot of high expectations.

I suppose one could find enjoyment if you turned your brain off completely

This kind of Explains how i watch ANY movie, everything outside the Movie stops being a thing to me.:rainbowwild:

Watched this movie with the family, plus the Fun Aunt(you know the type!:pinkiehappy:), in theatre's, and entirely enjoyed it, SPECIALLY the Climax, which i TOTALLY called!:rainbowkiss:

You liked the Climax atleast, didn't you?

Anyway, this movie -COULD- of Been worse.... their Original idea was MUCH more Horror, and focused even MORE on the Dino-soldier aspect, with Half-Human Dinosaur Hybrids being the Focus... Rather then the "Villain" we got who only has Human DNA in it to make it more intelligent..."Trainable"...

Seriously look up THOSE concept designs they are fucking grotesque!

SO yeah i think we got the Best possible movie we could of gotten!

Plus, Did you know the T-Rex at the end is the Original from JC1? It even has Raptor Scars! And as you can see "All in the Manual" It is Much larger then the Other T-Rex's they've produced over the Years... namely the One that was killed by the Spinosaurus in Movie 3.... and as a APOLOGY for THAT shit, when Original-Rex arrives on the scene, it plows through a Spinosaurus Skeleton Display, showing off just how much bigger then the Spino it is, and in turn, Bigger then the one that was Worf-Effect'd in the third movie!

One of my Earliest Memories was seeing Jurassic Park in the Theatre as a Kid with my mom... and Jurassic World is the First of the sequels i didn't hate. so 5/5 for not sucking.

3191433 no one should turn their brain off when watching a movie.

It allows them to just shove whatever crap they want onto the screen and expect us to accept it.

And no, I didn't like the climax. It was stupid
