I wanted to like this. The premise amused the heck out of me. However, there is simply not enough here to actually make it a story. Not only was I lost in several scenes, but a good deal of it referred to events previous to this story that made me feel like I jumped in on book 6 of a series, and not in a good way. This is poorly written, but not a horrible trainwreck or anything. Just needed more details and fleshing out of things. It felt like every other scene had been removed, or something similar.

Fairly typical human in Equestria fanfic, or so I guess from the poor reputation the genre has. The writing was, well, interesting but not that good. I think I might see if the author has any other stories that might have more polish. Would recommend skipping this one.

Totally missed a major point of view shift in this, which I really should have noticed since it also shifted from third-person to second-person viewpoint. Writing is a bit rough and the two characters don’t have enough voice to identify who is who easily, I had to stop and check several times to make sure I knew whose viewpoint I was reading at any given point. Despite that I kinda liked this one. Had a few neat bits, some sweet stuff, and when the end happened I wanted there to be more so I could keep reading.

This is one of the better stories from the contest. It is a wonderful look at things from a more mythic viewpoint. A little sad, a little hopeful, and I liked it a lot. I bet this will be in my top five. Also a rare example of a good story from an author that has numbers on the end of their username.

Writing is a little rough, but the emotion comes through anyway. I ended up liking this one more than I expected at the start. Just long enough that we get the emotional impact, but not so long that it drags.

If you are an author who wants a more detailed review of a story I've covered feel free to message me. My reviews tend to be fairly light, mostly just reactions to a story right after reading it. I am happy to give a more careful read and reply to anyone who wants more precision and/or feedback.
