So I am really gearing up for my latest idea for a story: it's called "Canterlot University".
Note that this is an alternate universe story - forget canon.
Canterlot University is Equestria's most prestigious university - you either need to be super smart, super rich, super athletic or have family who have attended Canterlot University.
The main character is an OC.
Tetris
A freshman at Canterlot University - very bright but somewhat shy with his own set of insecurities.
He comes from an upper-middle class family in Belmont Stakes (a suburb of Manehattan).
Tetris' cutie mark (not surprisingly) is of a Tetris block.
Tetris is the narrator of the story. He has his own set of problems/obstacles he needs to overcome but he largely plays the role of an observer.
He sees what his friends and other classmates are going through.
So one of my questions is - should Tetris be a unicorn or an earth pony?
I was planning on either making him a unicorn whose body doesn't allow him to make much magic himself but his knowledge of magic is incredible and surpasses that of most unicorns.
Or he would be an earth pony who happens to know a lot about magic - mostly due to his photographic memory.
Both scenarios would have him trying to prove himself to others about magic but one would be a "unicorn who is insecure about his weak magical abilities" and the other would be an "earth pony who is fascinated by magic and wants to understand everything about it". Which is more interesting?
I'd also be interested in seeing any potential reasons why he should be a pegasus.
Without revealing much - some other very important characters to the story include Bon-Bon, Lyra, Twilight Sparkle, Spike. and a lot of OCs.
Bon-Bon is Tetris' best friend from high school and also a freshman at Canterlot University.
So yea like I said I'm excited about this story. Still trying to decide if Tetris should be unicorn, earth, or pegasus though.
