Another Day, Another Story · 9:40pm Apr 9th, 2015

After eight months of work, Reddux the Tyrant is finally coming to an end this weekend. I'll be releasing Chapter 19 this Saturday and the final chapter on Sunday. It's been a long and fun road. In the end, the story received almost no attention, but I don't mind at all. From the very beginning, I wrote Reddux specifically because I wanted to see the story made, not because I expected any attention from it. In fact, I knew from the get-go that it would attract nobody. Still don't care.

Sometimes it's nice to just write for myself every now and then.

A big thanks to Danger Beans for pre-reading/editing the story for me, and though personal issues forced him to miss much of it, I extend that thanks to Majora (formerly known as Vergathos) for his help in the early stages. More than anyone, though, a thanks to those very few of you who bothered to share in the adventure with me. It's good to know that at least someone out there enjoyed it.

Ah, but now comes the big question: what next? The answer:

Them

I'm not going to update my schedule to include the Them stories just yet. I need to chat with RainbowBob and discuss with him my plans and schemes for the stories, and even then I'm not sure about their lengths. With any luck, I'll be able to churn the four stories out in a couple months, but it's not something I can be sure of.

In the meantime, I'm going to focus my writing on finishing The Gentle Nights: Audience of One – I expect to reduce the update time for that series to only a week as a result of the extra time gained. I will also work on finishing the barely-off-the-ground Shadow Pony story, although it's looking less and less like I'll be able to meet its original deadline. Thank goodness I made it tentative, no?

Now, before anyone asks, no, this is not my last No Heroes story. Ignoring Shadow Pony, I have another major story for the series planned, currently titled Beyond the Everfree. This story will have Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Nye Stone and Fine Crime go on a journey into the Everfree in search of a cure for Discord (those of you who have read Book III of No Heroes know what I'm talking about). The story is set to include the Thestrals and may or may not feature a certain famous dungeon crawler with a plethora of books to her name – I haven't decided for certain.

The story will solve three major issues: first, it will finalize the relationship between Fluttershy and Fine Crime, for better or for worse; second, it will expand upon the potential of the relationship between Fine and Pinkie, who had almost no chance for interaction in the main series; and of course, it will finally resolve Discord's situation (again, for better or worse). You can also expect a major new villain to pop up.

Another major story that is now almost certain to be written: The Silence. I would like to call this a Silent Hill crossover, but that's not accurate. It's better to refer to it as a tribute. Right now I haven't done much planning or development for it, but I do expect to be a very large story starring a vast number of characters. I'm not even sure who the main character will be. What I do know is where the source of darkness of the story will come from and why: the background is all but set. I just need to define the actors and the conclusion.

It's going to be a while yet before this story sees the light of day, however, so don't go getting too excited.

One last, arguably minor thing: after two years of dominating my popularity box on my user's page, the original The Gentle Nights has finally been toppled from its place as my highest-rated story (by percentage). That honor know falls to No Heroes Book II: The Journey Home. We'll see how long it stays there. Let's have a small celebration for the new leader. Trixie?

Update Schedule

I cant wait to see how some of these turn out!

I shall be starting Reddux either tonight or sometime this weekend, so you'll have one more looking at that. I'm sure it will be fantastic, and probably deserves way more attention than what it has now. I will also be looking forward to Shadow Pony and the next major No Heroes verse story.

Damn, Reddux is a damn good story and I would hate to see it end. As for whats next, I am definatly looking forward to another Them story if one happens and Beyond the Everfree sounds good. I have always wondered why they just plain forgot about poor Discord after he was turned to stone again. But an adventure like that needs class,. needs style! It needs someone other than the overused Rainbow Dash!

Are you going to:

Get in on this month's Writeoff? It's short stories instead of minifics this time around, which means that, once prompt voting wraps up in another six or seven hours, we'll have till Sunday night to write two to eight thousand words on whatever prompt gets picked.

I look forward to your opinion.

Nonsense! If Fluttershy is going to brave the Everfree, you can bet your last bit that Rainbow is going to go along to keep an eye on her. They are childhood friends, after all. Besides, this also provides ample opportunity for Nye to try to impress Rainbow with his (non-existent) adventuring skills. Last but not least, Fluttershy's going to need some support if Fine decides to open up to her, and while it can be argued that Rarity is the better choice in this matter, she has her own reasons to stay behind.

I don't think so, but only because I don't want to spend a lot of time reading a bunch of 2-8k stories over the next two weeks. When the next one comes around with shorter stories, then I'll probably join in again, but right now I have too many of my own stuff to work on to deal with that.

A big thanks to Danger Beans for pre-reading/editing the story for me, and though personal issues forced him to miss much of it,

What made me miss--Oh! I remember. Yeah . . . less pleasant times, those.

You're reading that sentence wrong. The "and though personal issues forced him to miss much of it" part was aimed at Majora, not you.

I take it back. If the prompt allows me to write a certain idea I've attained in the past few days, then I'll join. Otherwise, nope.

Cool to see your progress. I enjoy these updates into your writing schedule.
Too bad to say I just couldn't get into the Them series myself; they were far too bleak for me to reconcile with MLP. Good luck with them though.

Looking forward to your other fics as well!

Bah, it's been a blast reading Reddux the Tyrant! Sometimes, the best stories are those least appreciated. Sometimes. I look forward to whatever you write next, and I think that perhaps it is time to start on another fic of yours if I haven't read them all yet. ^^

That's pretty much been:

My take the past few months. I've got other stories to write, but the prompt makes me say, "Hey! That could work with this half-formed idea that's been wandering around my brain for a while now!" And I threw everything else aside, put on my Baal Bunny ears, and leap in.

Mike

I only recently discovered you and your stories and I haven't finished them all yet, but so far I've loved everything I've read and I started following you.

The first story I read was Twilight's Inferno and that was really hard to get through. It was just so... sad. Still it was an incredibly well written and moving read at the same time. I say moving because despite the hell Twilight was put through she never gave up and kept doing what needed to be done. Afterwards I read Trixie Vs Equestria, Reddux The Tyrant, the No Heros Series including Lightning's Bolt, the Them stories, and at last Tyrant. I'm a fast reader but it still took me days to get through it all. Time I consider well spent.

I can't wait to read the ending of Reddux and I will get around to reading the rest of your stories. You're a great writer. Consider me a new fan.

Well then, I welcome you to my little (but ever-growing) herd! I hope my stories continue to entertain.
