My Story Has Been Plagiarized? · 3:38am Apr 9th, 2015
I'm not sure how many of you, my followers, have read my story The Lovely Bones: Afterlife of a Murdered Pegasus. For those of you not it the know, my best quick description of it is that it's my own version of Cupcakes but with a larger story surrounding the investigation of Rainbow Dash's murder, an exploration of Pinkie Pie's murderous origins, a crossover (both thematically and literally) with The Lovely Bones (a book about a girl named Susie Salmon who is murdered in 1973), and some elements of Silent Ponyville thrown in. I won't spoil what happens for those of you who are potentially interested in checking this story out but I will say that it is my longest story to date (a whopping 62 chapters and 102,790 words long) and one of my earlier fanfics (originally written and posted to Fanfiction.net from July to October of 2012).
Anyway, let's move on to the main point of this post. A little while ago, I was bored and randomly Googled this story of mine to exercise my ego out of curiosity and stumbled across a Wattpad link. I clicked the link and what I found surprised me. Apparently, a user on Wattpad by the name of DerpyHoooves (who, I will admit, has a pretty cool avatar) literally copied my story as I wrote it back in 2012 and uploaded it there on their account, identifying it as their own work. Now, I didn't put the time into reading through and examining every chapter of the story but there's no doubting that it's my story. The only changes are the title (which has been changed to Afterlife: of a Murdered Pegasus), the story description (which is a lovely block of run-on sentences, random capitalization, and pretty poor grammar organization), the chapter titles, and an additional paragraph added to the very end which retcons the entire story and reduces it to being nothing more than a nightmare that Pinkie had.
I was so baffled and surprised by this finding that I actually went and made an account on Wattpad (it's DoctorPerseusonWatt if you're curious but you don't need to check out my account there because I haven't posted anything there nor do I ever plan to, I'm fine with sticking with FanFiction.net and FIMFiction.net) just to tell some of the commenters on the story that the true ending doesn't involve everything turning out to be a nightmare as well as for me to seek out some answers from Mr./Ms. DerpyHoooves. I replied to one of their comments in the comment section of one of the chapters asking them about this whole situation. I have yet to hear back from them.
At this point, I'm not sure how to feel about this whole situation or how to proceed. Do I just move on? Should I report the story on Wattpad? I don't know. I'm not necessarily angry as much as I am curious about why this user copied my story onto their account. I wonder if any of their other stories are copies of other fanfics from across the net.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this interesting situation with all of you and hear what you have to say. What do you think of this and what do you suggest I do about this? Should I ignore it, report it, continue to try contacting the user?

Black Sun cracked her neck and began to slowly approach human Luna. "I've just broken five of your ribs. Two have grazed your right lung. Severe internal bleeding can potentially result from this," she stated with a cold, emotionless tone.
Black Sun sighed. "It looks like I don't have two and a half minutes," she said before shrugging her shoulders. "I suppose this is a good opportunity to, as they say, kill two birds with one stone."
I would report the shit out of the user! Plagiarism is something I cannot stand!
Wow, that's sucks, I hope you find out why they did it, that was the story that got me into Twidash, and led my to meating all my friends on this sight.
If you can find out how, report it. Doesn't matter where or in what context, plagiarism is taken pretty seriously everywhere.
I've never read this Lovely Bones story of yours, but I respect your skill and integrity as a writer. I say you should report the story. This is an injustice that must not go unrectified!
Report it. Plagiarizing is illegal, unless you have the permission of the original author to use it. And, if I'm not mistaken, you did not give any form of permission to this DerpyHooves.
Definitely report it. Especially if there's more than one story on his account. Like you said, no telling how many stories are also plagiarized.
I don't keep up on the Fallout Equestria stories but I'm at least 70% sure they also stole Project Horizons
Just so you know, I went over there and tried to report him, but it wouldn't let me for some reason. I'm not sure what happened.
But I did make a comment on his userpage that Afterlife wasn't his, and he should remove it.
Don't know if it'll work, but I tried, anyway.

EDIT: Okay, I just found out (via Fallout-Equestria.com) that the name of the real author is Somber.

I myself attempted to report the story due to basically everyone recommending that I do so and I was unable to as well. There must be some sort of glitch with the site or something.

Really? That's weird, if it didn't let you, the author, report this jerk.
That very well could be, though, and I hope that they get it fixed. Not being able to report a thief and plagiarist bites big time!
