Season 5 · 12:29am Apr 6th, 2015
Yes... Surprisingly I am still on this site. And yes I decided to try and watch season 5 opening to see if it could get me back into writing.... Yet I was actually disappointed
Spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet.
Now the setup was actually good. The town just gave off a super creepy vibe of equality which is what you wanted. That is a positive.
Now the villain wasn't a big monster, which could have been a good since it gives a different approach than before, but I felt her reasons were unclear.
Why does she want this? What made her drive for equality? It never says.
Another disappointing thing was how their cutie marks were taken. When they mentioned how it was this one characters many secret items, I was thinking they were then gonna do an arc gathering the items which would have been interesting... But nope, the villain just lied and did it herself. Speaking of which how the heck did she even learn that? A plain unicorn able to overpower an alicorn and steal her power.... How!? Please explain.
I could be nitpicking since I'm not into the show anymore, but this was one of the weakest openings to a season in my opinion
You have to remember, twilight isn't that powerful an alicorn yet and she tried fighting starlight alone
2950442 watch the season 4 finale and tell me she isn't powerful
2950449 she had the magic of the other three alicorns with her, but at the end their powers were returned, twilight's power alone paled in comparison to tirek
Nice to see you still here, dude
Shye got taken by surprise. It does happen, in real life and fiction.
2950449 She was also hopped up on Celestia's, Luna's and Cadanc'e powers.
2950469
2950497 I know she had help, but what I'm saying is even if she was taken by surprise, how is this new unicorn powerful enough to take her magic away?
As I always say, if you don't like something about an episode, or a story, then change it into something different.
2950530 Because she wasn't prepared. Her defenses were down and Twilight isn't invincible. It happens, real-life and fiction.
The thing was that the villain wasn't huge or all powerful, as she wasn't supposed to be. We already had Tirek in "Twilight's Kingdom." Starlight was an average unicorn with a gift in powerful magic. A sort of foil to Twilight.
