My friends, my time here as unfortunately been cut short, and for that I must advocate that you no longer judge DmC: The Reboot so harshly.
Instead, you should continue to throw money at Ninja Theory like the mindless monkeys they see you as, for you are their target audience. So much smarter, cooler, hipper, and even whap-snacklin' more funky fresh than those who strive for such pointless things like: A Great Story, Compelling well-written characters, Subtle context hidden within your stories overarching theme, Genre Defining Action, Frantic Combat, Skill Based Combos, Grading Systems that evaluate your performances so that you may better yourselves, timeless themes handled and crafted carefully so as that they remain timeless, witty banter, creative bosses and environments, intuitive combat mechanics that actually make sense, cheesy and comical moments that lighten the mood, and last but certainly not least, FUN.
Who needs that shit when you can be dark and gritty and overly serious to the point that you cry blood every time you look deep inside your Gary Stu heart to discover what it means to suffer and be human!? (Even when you're not human in the slightest)

If only DMC were like God Hand in terms of tone, etc. Instead of the emo crap, of course some emo crap is alright nowadays because teenagers will realize that when they get out of college they will learn they need to be lucky in order to get that mandatory six figure salary in order to actually get by these days.
Seriously? Why must you rail about a game that 'you' had a bad experience with to a bunch of people who mostly came here for the ponies?
We get that you hate it, but there are probably a lot more people out there that enjoys this game. You make it seem like DmC is the E.T. video game (you know, the one that caused the video game crash), but it's really not. I respect your opinion, but it is not as bad as you make it out to be, and I would think that when DmC got this remastered edition for the next gen consoles, you would not hate it as much (they changed the ending for crying out loud).
And we might have to entertain the thought that the original DMC series might not get continued and that the DmC is the only DMC in town. Sure, DMC4 is getting a Special Edition, which is nice, but does that mean anything?
My biggest concern is that if we keep on hating on this game, they might just kill Devil May Cry altogether, and where would that leave us?

Perhaps if DmC: Devil's Menstruating Cunt wasn't built on a hate campaign, mocking the original, and if Tameem wasn't an unforgiving douchebag about it, then I could possibly let go of the infuriating bullshit. But it's not the case. Tameem, being the asshat he is, literally spit on thousands of people's cupcakes and told them it was frosting. He planned on shutting up all the neighsayers (Pun intended) and claimed his Dante would be far superior to the original and that original fans were stupid for not liking his initial idea.
Ninja Theory constantly strove to make this pile of sad, below average crap so much better than Devil May Cry, that they ended up making a 13 Year Old's Fanfic of Devil May Cry 3. And as someone who knows how to write, it's a pretty piss poor story in comparison to the already tropey originals. Yet unlike the originals, it takes a much darker and more serious spin where FUN is a thing of the past, and instead we have to hammer home some stupid social commentary about how the Government is evil and run by the Devil...
Can we save that shit for a series that wants to be taken seriously, rather than Devil May Cry, which knows what it is and knows how to balance both dark and comedic elements? Also, great job on the definitive edition. Ninja Theory constantly talked about wanting DmC to stand out so much from the originals that they caved into criticism like the spineless worms they are, and added in a Lock-On Mechanic. That thing they believed DmC didn't need, despite fans "Bitching."
This game is more than just a bad experience, especially when you get down the technical and mechanical experiences. This game is everything I loathe in gave development. It's a cash grab being marketed to the lowest demographic, dumbed-down story, waterted-down combat system that all boils down to one, thankfully, forgettable experience. It's so below average that I'd rather play a truly bad game like Sonic 06, Bubsy 3D, or even Devil May Cry 2, and relish in how spectacularly bad they are. At least with those piles of crap, you can be astonished and blown away by how bad this shit is. DmC offers nothing. It delivered nothing, and instead left us wanting something good.
Like Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition. So let's be thankful to that game for reminding us all what we really wanted out of a Devil May Cry game: Unforgettable Stories and Legends, Timeless themes, Over-the-top silliness layered over a dark and twisted tale, and 3 Dimensional Characters who retain their dignity and charm, even after a minstrel show like DmC: Devil May Be Not Human at All.
I forgive you for overstepping your bounds, simply because you didn't know the deeper issue with this game. Feel free to like it, I won't stop you. But at the end of the day, trash is still trash, and nothing anyone says can stop me from calling it so.

HOWEVER, I don't think you're getting the point. DmC: DmC is a watered down, glitchy, TRY HARD reboot to a well made and excellently performing action game series (sans DMC2) that didn't take itself too seriously. It featured an cast that was unlikable at worst or boring at best, with a cliched and putrid "story" that rips off more than it pays "homage" to, with such a schizophrenic identity that it makes Evil Within look like it has it's shit together, all written by a pretentious and self important twat. Worst of all, the game itself, while serviceable, is boring and uninspiring, making it a mediocre experience at best. Why is that so bad? Because it's riding on the coat-tails of a series that raised the bar in action games.
As for the remastered version, you should be thanking the fans that bag on this game so much (such as Jojo and myself, and many, MANY others), because it's been our voices that brought back Lock-on, changed the Color-coded enemy bullshit so it doesn't break combat flow, revamped the style system, and opted for such rebalances to make the game BETTER than it was. It's still not GREAT, but it's at least an improvement. But, despite all that, it's STILL rife with glitches, the story is still trash despite the edits, characters are abysmal still, the ending sucks STILL, and combat is FUCKING STILL slow, clunky, and insipid with idiotic (though, more aggressive) AI enemies, and the combat system is still far to exploitable despite it's unchanged limitations. Oh, and DT is still an over powered Quicksilver.
BTW, in regards to entertaining that thought you proposed, if DmC is the only thing left for the Devil May Cry series, with no continuation to the original canon, I'd rather let the entire series die. The westernized reboot was a FAILURE. It's remaster is a slightly improved FAILURE. And the funny thing? People are more excited for the remaster for a 7 year old game! People WANT the old DMC back. If capcom had any sense at all, they'd either ditch DmC:DmC and continue the original canon, or at least put priority on the original canon while having DmC as a side series (maybe hand it off to Sony Santa Monica for further production, cause they at least have some understanding of FUN combat).
In conclusion, don't you DARE tell us not to complain. Complaining about defective or underwhelming products as a consumer help make companies either re-work said products so that they are better in some way (shown by your beloved DmC remaster), or give the public what they want more often. Rolling over and taking any shit tossed to us is a disgrace.
