It's that time of the year again. Every six months or so, the train wreck to end all train wrecks stops at the depot. Even if that stop only lasts one day. Tops.
Austraeoh has been going since early 2012. Think about it. I started Austraeoh before Background Pony was even finished. I've been writing this dayum thing since before I knew Ponky or met Pilate or had a magical love child with the both of them.

While writing this sort of pulpy day-by-day stuff isn't exactly new to me, I have to say that the community formed by this literary phenomenon has been like no other I've been blessed to know. Everyone in Skype feels so close-knit and intelligent and creative and witty. And it's not like the group is all about Austraeoh; the fic is simply a means to gathering various amicable souls together. With the accelerated expiration dates of Internet groups, it's quite remarkable that Noble Jury has lasted this long. Once again, I feel quite lucky, even if I'm not exactly the most chatty member of the group. I find my own ways of delivering, day by day.
There've been times when the whole Imploding Colon / Just Essay thing has felt more like a curse than a blessing. I often come home from work, lazy, tired, uninspired, and it takes a veritable evisceration of my soul bowels in order to produce anything worth throwing one's eyeballs at for the paltry two to three minutes it takes to write a chapter (Nietzsche knows, it usually takes me forty-five minutes to an hour to write 'em, and that's with distractions). I think Appledashery has been suffering more as of late because of this sporadic ennui, but--let's face it--if it weren't for Best Pony, nobody but me would give a crap about that fic anymore... lulz.
Still, I have been and shall continue to be dedicated to this double-fanfic-project-thingy. It's not really all that hard to do, in truth. Just, sometimes the chore of getting them knocked out each day is taxing, and I find myself unable to summon the enthusiasm for pursuing other projects that need to get done. You know the ones. Spoiler: All the ones.
But it's moments like these, weeks like this, an occasion that happens only twice a year, when I realize that the last six or so months of toil and explosions and eastward Rainbow Dashing has been worth it, and I feel immensely gratified. 'Tis a good feeling, and now that everything is half over--with a story twist that I had planned years ago (even before I started writing the dayum thing)--I look forward to another three or so crazy years of chasing the horizon, whether or not these delicious jurists will be along for the ride. In all seriousness, the only thing that can conceivably stop me from finishing Austraeoh is death, finances, Disney Princess Simulator 2016, or the inevitable collapse of Western Society.

So yeah. PC Gaming. I've been doing that a lot lately. Like... out the earholes. Which games you (didn't) ask? Why, TF2. Lots and lots and lots of TF2. Oh blessed Nietzsche on a bike... lotssss of TF2.
There are some things in life that we never, ever get tired of. For me, it's TF2. Some of you may know this, presuming you've been stalkerific enough to look up my super lame-ass profile on youtube. Before I wrote crappy pony fanfics, I made crappy TF2 vidyas. Like... a lot of them. And though so many of them make me cringe in terms of their hilarious shortcomings, I still have a fond place for those clips in my chest vacuole. Mostly 'cuz they're a delicious time capsule of a special time in my life... involving a special group of Fugsters. I suppose it's fitting, because--in the end--it was a thread on the Fugworld server that turned me on to ponies to begin with:
Aside from that, I've popped in and out of Civ V, enjoyed the beauty of Guild Wars 2, and even splurged on Cities: Skylines... because holy snap is this game sexy. Modern day Sim City done right.

So I hear a new season is starting soon. It goes without saying that I'm certifiably enthused for it. I feel as though I'm a great deal more preoccupied this time than I was when S4 started, and I find that to be a good thing. Because, during S4, I tried super... super hard to avoid spoilers of the episodes... only to fail. This time, I feel as though I'm doing a far more decent job. Which is probably a good thing... because the one or two screenshots that I *have* accidentally seen so far have led me to believe that this incarnation of the show will crush more headcanon than any season previous. Assuming this is the last leg of MLP (which I've no clue; I hope not), then I don't see them doing anything short of--say--Enterprise Season 4 and going all out/pulling out all the friggin' stops. Belated exposition and fanservice is best exposition and fanservice, dreit?

And, last but not least, if you haven't watched the above vidya yet, you need to. Desperately.
Even if you're not a fan of wrestling, this is still a marvelous piece of viral Internet eyesex. The editing is both smart and gorgeous (with or without the copious amounts of estrogenicon), and the final message speaks to the creative soul in all of us, be they writers or piledrivers. I can't recommend it enough. Seriously, watching it made me super happy for like 12 hours straight.

Fug servers? FUG servers?! Ahahaahaaa, what a small world it is! I used to hang out on the Hovel of Tomfoolery after a friend introduced me to it. Regardless of total lack of balance, playing custom maps was fun!
I recommend modding your TF2 to be pony. So much pony. Pony all the things. Installing mods for TF2 is as simple as a single copy/paste.
This is a huge repository of such mods. And to my exuberant surprise, it's being maintained again after a hiatus in 2013!

s'not. There's at the very least the 2017 movie, and if I understood one of their slideshow presentations right, at least two more years of funding MLP for TV (as in ponies, not EQG, which is separate). So I think that's at the very least one, if not two more seasons.

2916612 It's honestly hard to say too much without giving anything away. Definitely read it, this series is incredible. I was where you were a long way back. Asking for someone to tell me just what this series was about since I didn't want to start (at the time) a 600k+ word story with just "Rainbow Dash flies East" to go on. I was basically told "just read it, you'll see why." And you will. This journey, this story as a whole...I'm honestly not sure I have adequate words for it. 200 chapters a book may seem huge but many of the chapters are very small so it's not bad. Besides, I think you'll find that reading just one chapter isn't enough

I really need to read the Austraeoh series one of these days. Problem is when I read books or longer fics, I like to finish what I start in nearly one go, and in Austraeoh's case, I'll probably have to wait till I get at least a few days completely to myself before I take a crack at it.

Hooooooooooooooooooooold up. These Black Eyes was YOU? Skirts, my sister and I were super into Teen Titans when we were younger (still the greatest cartoon ever). She read a lot of TT fanfiction during that time. She would near-constantly tell me how much she loved this fic. Like this is not a joke, I would be angry at you for how often she would tell me about it when I wasn't really interested (didn't read many fics at the time), except I apparently got oddly fitting revenge when I did the same thing to her about Background Pony.

If you're into Cities Skyline, you might wanna check out a game by the name of Europa Universalis IV. Granted, it's a totally different genre (Risk-like real time grand strategy) but it's made by the same publisher (Paradox Interactive) and is a really really good game.

TF2 is the second greatest thing next to ponies. I've spent about 2k+ hours just on these servers. I think I remember seeing you on the PF2 servers a couple of times, oh, 2-3 years ago. We've downsized since then, all that's left is one heavily pony modded server called Hoofington and one mostly stock server called Ponyville.
Feel free to stop by for some TF2 with fellow bronies.
