Man, it's just weird... · 4:38pm Mar 22nd, 2015
I'm not really into Wrestling, but being in Mexico you couldn't avoid the thing, and one of those famous wrestlers was "El Hijo del Perro Aguayo", who would pop up in references and tv shows for years to come. He died fighting Rey Mysterio (who I believe is pretty well known in the US) yesterday. He wasn't even that old, 35, and in excellent physical condition. Both are pros as well, so the chances of something like this happening were really slim... and yet, there he goes.
It's weird how this makes me feel... like I said I've never been into Wrestling, but it's yet another name of someone who is always there and then just isn't anymore, you know what I mean?
The drummer for Twisted Sister, Leonard Nimoy, Paul Walker...
I can empathize with what you're saying.
My favorite wrestler is Mister Diddlez.
Or maybe the Corpirate.
Monty Oum's death hit me hard this year. So much potential just blasted away by a freak medical accident.
Not quite the same as "always been there", more like "bright future snuffed out" for me.
There are people calling for Mysterio to be charged with murder, but if you watch the video, Aguayo was still conscious and coherent when he made the audible for Rey to "dial him up" for the "6-1-9" (kicking him onto the ring ropes, which caused the fatal injury). He knew he was injured but he still took the risk, hence, it is not Rey's fault.

After watching the video, what disturbed me the most was that the match was allowed to continue. I'm not even sure Rey's "6-1-9" actually even hit Aguayo, and the set up didn't look particularly harsh either compared to Aguayo using steel chairs and such earlier. It may have been some of the earlier action that just escalated it, or somehow his neck hit the ropes harder that it usually would.

Nah man, Beardo the Magnificent's where it's at. He's just too ripe for them to handle!
2899944 Ha! Except when the Corpirate kicked Beardo's ripe ass right outta the ring! YOU CAN'T BEAT WALL STREET!
Well, his was a high-risk proffesion. Just like race drivers
Long live, one way or the other.

Yes, that was the starting injury, but the autopsy revealed that the fatal injury occuered when his neck hit the rope after Rey kicked him.
Wrestling is heavily scripted for exactly this reason. If done with even a tiny margin of error, death is probably the most merciful thing that could happen.
