How long did it take to make this? Its a pretty cool map.

2850297 Days to plan, weeks to draw, months to refine. I had a map in mind when I started my fic in the summer of 2013 and had a crude version on paper for a while. I drew a much more refined version on A3-sized card to order my ideas at the start of 2014, then I decided I needed to put it online with my fic. I drew the outline of the continent on A4 paper in pen, scanned it, then after a few abortive attempts with Photoshop, I leapt into the yawning pit of hell that is MS Paint and somehow tore this from it. That took me up to about May 2014 when I put in on Deviantart. I've been adding to it since.

Its damn nice work man, so is the story. anyway keep up the great work :pinkiehappy:

From a geographical perspective this looks a bit odd. The mountain ranges seem too lack the concepts of fault lines and while I do love the LoTR bit in the badlands, it seems a bit strange. Of course I don't expect a map with perfect geographical physics since not even I can draw up a good map. Don't get me wrong I like it but it does have some polishing to do.

2850496 I worked out of two maps to create it, the canon map:

And the map of Southern Equestria in the IDW comics:

I had to work out how to bring these two together, hence the somewhat odd mountain ranges. As for an in-universe explanation, given Discord and... other magical events to be referenced in my fic, Equestria's mountain ranges are not entirely natural:

Thus why I said that I do not expect perfection regarding maps of fictional places. Unless I have a master degree in earth science I should not be complaining if I can not explain the basics of thermal activity from the top of my head. So all in all this is a good map!

Also magic is simply advance science! :trollestia:

I spot Ponland. And Bitula. And the Crystal Empire close to our bounds... [that means corruption and dominance]

I support it with all my heart. Now time to finish that beetroot harvest for Canterlot.

Also: I spot Winged Huzzars in the other thing. I'm gonna read hard tonight...
