Live Long and Prosper

Today an idol of mine passed. Leonard Nimoy was part of what made me into the man I am today, he helped inspire my love of science fiction, my love of the strange and speculative. Before any other vision of aliens was in my mind there was Spock, the voice of reason and rationality, the voice I'd always dreamed of.

I'm not going to pretend that I knew the man, nor am I going to claim my sadness at his passing to be greater than those who were truly close to him in life. All I am is a fan, and I am genuinely in tears at this news. For all my life he was an old man, I should have been prepared for this.
