The Quest for Inspiration · 11:43pm Jul 6th, 2012
I was going over edits for "After so long...", trying to find the words to make it absolutely perfect. But no matter where in my mind I searched, the words evaded me. So, being the crazy fool that I am, I grabbed my new Diablo 3 notepad, a water bottle, and my bicycle, and went out into the 42 degree Celsius heat to find inspiration
My destination: The Beaver Valley, a beautiful outlook in Northern Canada that was only a short bike ride away from my house. In the sweltering sun, my stops needed to be frequent in order to prevent overheating. Sweat beaded down my forehead as I looked onward, staring at the top of the hill that my outlook was just beyond. As I crested the mammoth obstacle, I was rewarded with an overwhelming sight
Another hill
There was always another hill.
At the point, the thought of giving up crossed my mind. Perhaps I was pushing myself too hard. But no! Nothing was too hard for Rainbow Dash, and so I shall not let it be too hard for me! That is the only way to feel what she feels, to push yourself beyond your limit. With my water bottle half drained, I set off towards the next hill
As steep as it was, it could only hold me down for a few minutes. I felt as drained as my empty water bottle as I crested that hill, having saved nothing for the ride back, and only hoping for a beautiful sight to await me. And there it was
The Beaver Valley.
Pulling my bike off to the side of the road, I dismounted and let my shaky legs hold me. A rustling from the bushes beside me caught my attention, as Partridge emerged from the underbrush, followed by a large family of newly hatched chicks. The cawing of a seagull snapped my attention to the sky, where among the white birds soared a pack of Turkey vultures, birds that seemed to glide on the warm thermals as majestically as eagles to the untrained eye. With the wind in my hair, sweat on my skin, and my heart racing, I sat down in the shade of a nearby tree
And I found the words.
That was a fun trip to write about. Now I just need to transfer the words from my pen and paper to my online doc, and I`m set
