I have been SUMMONED · 5:01pm Feb 11th, 2015
For jury duty. April 30th, which is a Thursday. I don't mind waking up early, and I do have a sense of civic responsibility. So that should be fun.
Heh. Summoned.

Stormy was in a later set given a better card, much as Jedit Ojanen was.

Well good luck on that front, hopefully it's not a hard experience or one where you are just one of twelve angry people.
Wait isn't Jury Duty the thing where they put you up in a nice hotel or is that just The Simpsons lying to me again?
Were you summoned for a reason, or do they usually summon juries from random citizens?

They summon from random citizens. It's a civic duty.
Mind, being summoned for jury duty is not the same thing as actually going to sit on a jury; there's an elimination process and stuff.
2787781
That part only happens if I actually end up on a jury; I might not.

The hotel thing also only happens if the judge orders the jury to be sequestered, which typically only happens in high profile cases were there is concern of jury tampering. Otherwise the jurors are simply left to go about their normal lives, albeit that they are under court order not to discus anything related to the case or engage in any kind of private inquiry of their own.
I've been summoned before, but it never went anywhere. I just hope the deciding committee used Essence Scatter rather than Remove Soul.
You should totally bring up jury nullification.
2787852
I...don't know what that is.
2787865 Well you can vote guilt, not guilty, or jury nullification (it has some latin term to it, I forgot the name of). Basically it means that defendant is guilty, but jury is letting him go. Mostly used, when the law is stupid. Most judges, go fuuuuu if you know about it, and no one usually mentions it.

Well, I'm not even on a jury yet. I'll be going in for the selection process, maybe, provided that the whole thing isn't cancelled (my roommate's was last year).
I remember being summoned for jury duty once. I never made it past the the whole selection process, but it was still a very boring stretch of a day. Didn't even have FiMFiction to read at the time.
Hopefully it won't be that bad for you.
Ah, I remember jury duty...
I didn't do a dang thing.
I was called up for jury duty a few years ago, all I ended up having to do was call them on the morning to be told I wasn't needed.
I did get to find out some things about the Scottish Legal system though, including our three possible findings, Guilty, Not Guilty and Not Proven (Unofficially referred to as, we know you did it, but we can't prove it, now don't do it again!)
I can't believe how ugly older Magic cards were. ^^
Also... yay? I think? Jury duty always sounds like fun to me, but I know people who said they'd hate to do it. Maybe those people have already been in a courtroom, I dunno. :)
Good luck with that summons. And nice graphics, did ya make 'em yourself?

Ah I see, I've never been summoned so I don't know the specifics.
Awesome card as well.

I see... Thanks you for the clarification. (finger pyramid of evil contemplation)
I was summoned a couple of years ago, got my leave setup from work, and the day before I was supposed to show up, they postponed it until next week. So I call the boss, go in to work on that day, and schedule a day off next week. This repeated for two months, after which they told me I was off the hook.
The only time I was summoned I ended up in the jury pool for a murder case. We were sworn in, the judge explained the jury-selection process to us and then he started in on the questions for us. At one point he asked which of us had ever owned a firearm, but then he & an attorney started discussing which of us had owned weapons. Since I took my oath seriously, I asked whether they'd meant any weapon or just firearms. My question seemed to confuse them and in the resulting conversation it became evident that I'd never owned a gun but that I owned other weapons.
I was not picked for the jury. They did pick the other guy with the nice hat, though, so that counts for something.
How are you supposed to use this card in a useful manner, and how did you make it?

It was made using Magic Set Editor, a fantastic tool.
The first card isn't supposed to be useful; it's intentionally bad, as a joke. it also contains a reference to Floral Spuzzem, the most powerful magic card ever printed (since it has free will).
