    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

Yay snow! · 1:38am Jan 27th, 2015

We closed two hours early at my job due to the big snow storm hitting Massachusetts right now. This is literally only the third time that's happened in my nearly 8 years of working there, and only the second time it's happened to me personally.

So hurray for snow! I'll take the crappy road conditions in exchange for getting out of work early for once. Even better, I have the next two days scheduled off, and I'm not working until the evening on Thursday. Lots and lots of time for writing, provided the power doesn't go out, which I don't think it will (the snow is very light and there's a pretty strong wind, so I doubt it will collect on power lines or anything, it's just gonna make roads unsafe).

For those interested, I'll specifically be working on Dalek during that time. The (far too) long path towards RainbowDoubleDomination continues!

Have a safe trip home.

Awesome:pinkiehappy::derpytongue2::moustache: And stay safe.

It's so nice and warm here, I may wear shorts to work tomorrow. I'll think of you...

If you don't mind, care to pack up some of that snow and send it to California? We really need it. :applecry:

I half envy you, half don't envy you RDD. You guys are getting hammered a lot worse than us in Western PA right now, by my understanding and that sucks.

But, I have to go and open the store I work at tomorrow, despite the winter storm warning that's sitting over our area and you get to stay home and write, which I'd rather do than serve people burgers.

>.>....So torn.

Be careful. We're supposed to get it through till Wednesday. Though so far it hasn't felt as severe as the warnings have made it out to be. Yet. But just in case ended up stocking up on a few things. They got snow piled outside my driveway that's taller than me right now. x_x

I wish I had bought new winter gloves. I wanna go sledding tomorrow r.r

I'm going to be honest, I saw some news report freaking out about how snow might hit "as high as three feet deep" and thought it was hilarious. I'm from Canada, you see. The wind does sound brutal, that I will admit.

Thanks for the concern. I got home just fine, and haven't lost power. If I haven't by now then I doubt I'm going to.

I'll see what I can do.

You should get a governor who'll issue travel bans at the drop of a hat. Although, actually, looking outside, I think it's justified. It's been years since I've seen snow like this...

I think the real danger is the winds, but at the same time they're something of a blessing. There's a lot of snow, but like I pointed out, the srong winds are preventing it from really accumulating on trees or power lines. So the wind chill is making it feel much colder than it is, but is also preventing many places from losing power.

Though over in Boston and the Cape some people have lost power, I've heard on la radio, so maybe I'm just full of it.
