JLBDreamer Presents: Pony Video of the Week (1/10/15) · 4:03am Jan 11th, 2015
Hello everypony!
After the busy week I had I wondered what I wanted to post and I came up with two candidates for my pony video of the week. I couldn't pick just one so I present two for the price of one.
Lewtoons: Review of the History of My Little Pony
I love Lewtoons channel because I love animation of all kinds and his love shines through. I feel like less of a nerd seeing someone else loves what I do. Lew is the only general cartoon critic I've seen regularly include My Little Pony characters in his polls of top 10s and I highly recommend his channel especially if you are just a fan of good animation in general. My Review
In my first post here I mentioned I have been a My Little Pony fan for most of my life. I grew up when the My Little Pony toys were launched. My very first pony toy was the original Apple Jack.
I loved my Apple Jack and became an obsessive collector. I had 49 toys at one point! Since I loved the toys I naturally jumped on the band wagon with the cartoon and I loved G1 with a passion. Sadly with the repackaging of the toys and cartoons in G2 I lost my love of it. I personally loved seeing Lewtoon's review of all of My Little Pony through out the years. Its a great objective view and its good to know the history for those of you who didn't grow up seeing My Little Pony evolve over the years its worth a watch. Its also a great walk down memory lane for those of us who aren't kids.
JanAnimations: Pony Rock Anthem Animatic
Animation is a pains taking and involved process and so when animators give us a peek at a work in progress it is truly a fun experience. Its the ultimate of sneak previews and this week I have selected an amazing animatic to share.
JanAnimations (Click here to see JanAnimations Youtube Channel) is a fan animator that has produced such fan favorites as Picture Perfect Pony, Button Mash Videos and Don't Mine at Night. At Galacon in 2014 he showed an animatic of his latest project. It is a video involving a fan parody song of the "Party Rock Anathem" called the "Pony Rock Anthem" and it already is engaging.
My Review
If the finished product is animated with the same quality as Jan's other projects we are in for a real treat. I could easily see this as an actual MLP:FIM Episode. I eagerly anticipate it!
My Goals In General for January
If you like how I craft a story and draw then you might be interested in what I do besides what is related to MLP. For this reason I will post a little blurb at the end of my video posts each week.
What happened this week?
Well it was a busy week on the home front for me so I wasn't terribly productive in art or writing of anything. Learning new software is time consuming but its also fun. Once I get a couple of other things done (probably in the next couple of weeks) and get my website up I will be taking on commission requests here and other places. When I get to that point I will be offering free artwork to my first 20 subscribers. You will help me fill out some portfolio examples and you will get some free art. Sound good?
I also will be opening up a patreon account either this month or next and there will be goodies for those that support my art, blogs, comics and writings. I'll post more on that once I get closer to launching that.
