"Do You Wanna Draw a Snowman?" Christmas and New Years 2014 · 4:01am Dec 26th, 2014
^ My cousin's daughter is officially hooked on "Frozen", and she brought a coloring book of it to the annual family holiday party. Figured it might make a cute title.
So it's nearing the end of the year for us, and I'm happy to announce that I have kept... NONE of my promises from last year!
-Write every day, either on Gdocs or on paper
-Keep up grades in college
-Make friends in college
-Monitor my internet-surfing habits
-Eat healthier (HA!)
-Make an effort to schedule workout/fitness time each day
-Break out of my shy-shell (HA!)
-Finish watching and then give up DC sitcoms once and for all
-Save money (HA!)
-Publish at least 2-3 stories, preferably one-shots, by the end of this year
-Get started on at least one multi-chapter project
-Update said project monthly at minimum as to not annoy my readers
-Discipline myself so that I'm not as lazy anymore
-Get a (bleep)ing job...(HA!)
Well, keeping up my grades was technically going pretty well. Then I slacked off in British Literature I'm sorry but the material was so BORING!! And I would have given up DC sitcoms entirely, but I've started watching "Girl Meets World"... come on, SOMETHING had to fill the Pony void, guys (Gravity Falls wouldn't start again til August, and Phineas and Ferb is friggin bipolar with its schedule). And I swear, this show actually have effort and stuff!
...And, uh, my internet habits have not exactly gotten better. At all. And I doubt they'll get better seeing how I'll probably rely on it more than ever, being in college and all. So long as I can avoid addiction, I should be fine. At the very least I NEED the STOP GOING TO TV TROPES- I recently had an epiphany that certain negative comments- sorry, "edits" send me into a rage, which is probably not healthy, and also it's got an addictive quality already, so it only feeds my growing internet dependence. IT ENDS NOW. FOR REALZIES.
As for my holiday season, I helped make tamales with my dad's side of the family (YUM!) and won a clothing cabinet in a game of White Elephant- which I will use to store my never growing collection of books. I choose my WE pickings wisely.
On my mother's side of the family, I "babysat" for my niece, but she was more interested in running around like a maniac with a ribbon than coloring in ponies or Princess Anna. Though we did play around with her Minnie Mouse Dollhouse and sticker book for a while. In all honesty, she'd probably be calmer if not for me giving her any of the cookies I'd brought to the party. But it was still cute. Maybe next year she'll be ready for Baby's first Pony toy...
My gift loot this year: Mostly gift cards, a spa certificate, sweaters, an art pad, and MLP seasons 3 AND 4 on DVD. Thanks, "Santa"! Also, favorite gift given: I got my dad the Complete DVD collection of "The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show" (They were his childhood. )
No plans for what exactly I'll do on New Years Eve, but I'm leaning towards a Shogun's dinner. I love their fried rice- which is odd, because Mom and Dad say my brother and I hated it the first time we tried it. Oh, well, tastes change I guess. As for resolutions, I guess they're pretty much the same as last years, but let's face it, who actually keeps these things? But I can try.
And now, to brainstorm what I'll be spending my bookstore giftcards on. (Insert Evil Adagio grin here)
Happy Holidays, everyone, and a very Pony-filled New Years for all of us!
