That second panel sells it to me. Trixie is all awash with emotion, tied up in her public ego / private underconfidence problem, and circumlocuting around it and deceiving herself. Maud is cool, confident, infinitely patient with Trixie's dramatics, and more aware of what Trixie wants than Trixie is.

Huh, there's a group for it. And I thought I was being clever.

Nice artwork, that's new to me though I had this idea not long after seeing the episode that premiered Maude.

On the other hand, I don't recall seeing any stand out fics about this, so if you want to be 'unoriginal' and write one, I'd hardly complain. Two stories is pretty rare for this site, anyway.

There is an interesting feeling of chemistry to their ship - I like it. If I were being too cynical, I'd paraphrase your Fetlock Holmes about Watson: "His chief qualification in this matter is that he is the only pony in Equestria with the patience to tolerate me for long intervals." But I think it's much more than that, and I'd rather just see both of their potentials anyway, based on the little cannon we've seen of them.
