    Watch (This) Space

    Hello everyone!

I've been gone on hiatus for a few years. I stopped watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in the middle of the seventh season. But a few months ago, my interest was rekindled. And the last two seasons were fantastic. The high point, for me, is the new characters -- the Student Six -- who breathed fresh life into the show.

A Time for Giving Thanks · 11:40am Nov 28th, 2014

Here in the United States, we are celebrating Thanksgiving, a national holiday that is supposed to be focused on recognizing all we have and being thankful for it.

Now, I'll be the first to admit, the holiday itself is a mess. Thanksgiving has long been overshadowed by the upcomingness of Christmas. The tradition of giving thanks on this holiday is being swiftly eroded by an expanding Black Friday and all that comes with it. And it is not entirely unfair to compare the origin of the holiday to the happy moments at the beginning of The Red Wedding. There have been times when I considered Wednesday's speech in Addams' Family Values a most fitting tribute:

But I believe it is important to exercise giving thanks. It is not something to be confined to a single date on the calender, but something to be practiced regularly. And if nothing else, Thanksgiving should serve as a reminder to do so for those of us who have forgotten.

I, for one, have more to be thankful for than I could ever express. I have a loving family, close friends, employment, entertainment and a roof over my head. And more than that, I have a massively supportive community of fans and friends. And every day I receive the gift of knowing that I have helped many and seeing that I have inspired many more.

My life is rich. And it is time again to say "thank you!" Furthermore, I want to take this time to encourage you to take an extra moment to give thanks for those things that enrich your life. So please, tell me what you are thankful for.

Last year, I posted the following as an early Thanksgiving blog:

Thank you for enjoying my story and choosing to follow me. Thank you for all the wonderful comments and favorites. But more, thank you for being inspired and motivated, giving back to all of us with your talents and your time. Thank you for your videos and your animation projects; thank you for your art and music and stories and so much more.

But most of all, thank you for your kindness, and your friendship to others. Thank you for being some of the very best people within the brony fandom. You elevate it.

I want to reiterate that. I want to take this time to say that again in order to remind myself just how much you have given me and how blessed that I am for all of you, and to remind you that I am thankful.

Next week: more "Origin Story".

And thank you, for the wonderful story, and the wonderful blogs, and the wonderful conversations on the irc

thank you Kkat you, for being so cool.:pinkiehappy:

And thank you, for just being so damn awesome.

The only purpose of holidays is to stay at home tho'. I don't need a special day to be thankful. Reading newspaper on a Sunday morning is more than enough to remember me of my incredible high quality of life.

Happy Thanksgiving, Kkat! I'm thankful that I'm part of such an awesome fanbase and my family.

I am thankful I exist. Sure it can be trying sometimes, but it's a gift for which I am extremely grateful.

Kkat, i'm thankful for all the wonderful stories people like you put out, because it serves as a source of cheering people up. For people like me, who have been through some really dark periods in their lives, we read your stories and they help us through these things. So thank you.

Happy thanksgiving! I'm in Canada so it's not for me but anywho!!! I am thankful for all the people who support me and my stories and for all y'all that I have managed to make friends of in the time I have been on this site and others. To list a few are Matt11 SilverEyedWolf Krisis Nova and Blue Ice Tails! Each and every one of us are family! Every one of us are there for all the others and for that I am thankful!

Okay, I'm British, but I'm pretty sure I can say thank you all the same. Thank you for your inspiring words and stories!

Thanks for giving such a wonderful fanfic that has inspired so much.

Thanks to this fandom for getting me back on track with the things I love the most.

Thanks to this fandom for being kind, caring, and welcoming

Thanks to this fandom for being so creative

Thanks to this site for making ti far easier for me to find the fics I love

An thanks to all of you for making me better.

To quote Little Pip "We can be better.

Five things I'm being thankful for:
For being in a fantastic fandom, despite its problems.
My family, especially my mother. May she rest in peace.
My co-workers. Never have working on a graveyard felt so good.
My friends. Always there when I need them. Always there when they need me.
You, Kkat, for making one of the best stories of this fandom. Truly, thank you.

I guess I'm thankful for the nice beautiful snowing outside. I'm thinking about taking a walk through it.

I'm thankful for having been born into means, and for all the adversity I've faced. If I'd been given everything freely, I'd never have learned how to stand up for it.
Thank you for the story, and for keeping going in the fandom.

Great post K. Looking back on my adveture through the FOE rabbit hole I can only say this. THANK YOU KKAT! Thank you not only for FOE, but the community you brought to life. I have had amazeing chats at cons about Foe, and have met some of the coolest people on here due to a simple story. I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas thanks to FOE, and have even met a couple of people related to FOE stories. Also, on a personal note. Thank you K for all our chats here, you personaly inspired me through a few pms to continue my very own FOE story. For that I am forever greatful, thank you K.

So please, tell me what you are thankful for.

Not having to be around my family often anymore.

You asked... :scootangel:

I wish that hadn't been the first thing to come to mind, though.

I think the only succinct answer is to say that I'm thankful that my biggest problems are that I don't have as much free time for reading fanfiction as I'd like, and that I'm too shy to spread asexual awareness effectively. I can't imagine any prejudice more benign than not knowing a group exists, so you know your life must be good if that's the best thing you've got to worry about.

hi hi

Sometimes I wonder if it would be easy to be thankful for the big, rare things in one's life, like a fulfilling job, world peace, and a successful romance, if one had those things at all. Things like that would be obvious, wouldn't they? But whether or not we're still hunting for the right job, struggling for peace and understanding, and searching for love, I think the little things can get overlooked all the same. Those little things that are always around, quietly making a difference.

So thanks for the little things. Thanks for the friendly wave and a smile in passing, the guy who takes the time to throw something in the trash instead of on the side of the road, the person who accepts an apology when their friend messed up, the politicians who have not yet torn out every last square foot of green grass and replaced it with pavement, the guy who could have left someone lying on the side of the road but stopped to help, and that pegasus with only 2.5 wingpower who showed up and helped out anyways.

Is Black Friday a part of Thanksgiving? Just curious because it seems we've been infected with Black Friday over here in the UK and we don't even get a effing holiday to go with it.

Stupid people.

This song reminds me of Fo:E. Beautiful, well made, dark. Everything. Thank you for the story and keeping me entertained for around a month.

I'm thankful for the opportunities I've had and for my family: particularly my brother.

Amen! As I once read in the Girl Genius webcomic, something like, "My family is a gift from God, and that's a fine thing, for I surely wouldn't have paid money for them." I think we've all been there. :applejackconfused:
I found this thread a few weeks late, but like most of us, I have a great many thanks to give. Putting aside the fact that I only worked about four months this year, and my savings account is shrinking while I hunt for work, I'm thankful that I have that savings account and that contract jobs do occasionally appear.
And furthermore:
Reading about Littlepip's adventures, I too can feel deeply blessed in that I've never had to drink radioactive water from a toilet.
