Apotheosis Audiobook, Epilogue · 1:32am Nov 25th, 2014
And the final one.
These are now edited into the story proper. Again, if you haven't looked at these, I highly recommend them. Illya Leonov and Scribbler have done an epic, epic job with them and frankly I don't think a commercial sound studio could have done better.
Ooh. I'm going to have to give this a listen. I also tend to make a habit of creating torrents of the audiobooks I download, since the people that make these never seem to want to make convenient downloads.
Sweet!

Actually, Illya has provided downloads via his Soundcloud account, as he always does, and whenever I upload fic readings to my channel I also include downloads via Mediafire. ;)

True, but his soundcloud files are generally not grouped together and you have to do a little bit of searching to find all the chapters, and more often than not, some of the chapters do not have a download button and I need to go to the source code to download an audio file. This is actually the easiest time I've had downloading a fan audiobook since all the chapters were relatively close together and all the download links actually worked.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I did find two files that had failed download links and corrected them. Not exactly "more often than not" but still, a needed correction. Hopefully things will go smoother now.

Glad I could be of assistance. You might want to go back and look at Past Sins or Eternal as well if you haven't done so in the year or so since I downloaded them. I don't remember which story it was since I downloaded them both at the same time, one or both were also missing download links at the time.

Check. They seem to all be there now, but thanks. The reason things get spread out in SoundCloud is because they only display your tracks chronologically. You can make playlists but they are clumsy and frankly I do not get enough views on Soundcloud to warrant the trouble. I have a lifetime Pro membership so I will keep using it as a resource for people, but I am under no illusion that it is a great source of exposure for me. YouTube is simply where folks go to look for things.

While you're here, I've got to ask: Is that your normal speaking voice you narrate with?
2616989
It is very close to it. I do adopt something of a storytelling voice when I am reading which is a bit more dramatic than I would normally use in conversing; I tend to speak a bit more casually than that in every day conversation. Also I am very careful about the mike I use and its placement. I like to leave in some percentage of breaths and some extensions of breath at the ends of words, as well as extending some of the dipthongs and letting the consonants roll just a little bit. These are not things you can normally hear without the benefit of a microphone. I am no actor, but I have always felt that there is a difference in reading and telling a story. I like to imagine that the listeners and I are gathered around a fire as I relate the story, and I feel it is incumbent upon me to convey the feeling, the sense of the narrative. My voice is not perfect for everything but it is what I have to give and I try to do the best I can with it. It does help to choose stories with rich descriptive prose, and "Apotheosis" is just the ticket. Daetrin sprinkles little gems like "Darkness fell." in there which sets the mood perfectly. I can't imagine just saying that in a casual setting, hehe.

Well, I do have to admit I love the professionalism you put into it. The only criticism I have is when you occasionally include sound effects. To me, you either stick with being a narrative, or you make it an audio-dramatization; in which case you need sound effects throughout its entirety as if you are listening to a movie. But when you have just a small handfull of sound bites for a whole story, it kills the immersion more than enhances it. But that is only my opinion. Besides, for all I know you don't do that anymore since Eternal and Past Sins are so far the only ones I've listened to from you (Train Your Pegasus and Apotheosis I will be listening to soon once I'm done with my Tom Clancy binge).
So what is going to be your next project? Are you open to suggestions?

I am glad you told me that., I too have sometimes felt that using only smatterings of effects could pull one out of the story. I mostly have done it because so many fans ask for them and because by employing other voice actors things move away from storytelling into the realm of an audio play, so I am not quite certain just what the format should be. I will use them with caution in the future.
2617643 I gotta say the effects you used for the various god-voices were pretty awesome though.

Thank you Daetrin. Aye, yes but that is different. Effects used in that way are to help create a character. I will continue to use those as needed.

Oh! and one more thing! The download link for Chapter 9 of "How To Train Your Pegasus" is in .mp4 format for some reason.
2619008
Oh yeah, I meant to change that. Thanks!

Done. Thanks again. That was a hectic night. Mom was in the hospital and I was struggling to get things done to go see her. I appreciate the help.

Great! Glad you had your priorities straight and fixed the format of that pony fanfiction audiobook first!
And here is a link to the audiobook torrent, if either of you care to advertise it (the more seeders the better).

As is my habit, I took the liberty of also filling in the file tags for artist(s), track number, track title, and album title, along with making sure the filenames are consistent with each other.
