I was bored so, for the heck of it, I decided to group some MLP characters with certain songs. Here's the list I came up with.

Hmm, interesting choices for themes, and I see what you were going for with most of them. (Love the KH themes) However, I'm curious as to why you choose 'I will not Bow' for Discord. I would peg that as more Tirek-ish. Personally, I would probably choose something more dubstep-y.

I was kind of following the mentality of Discord's refusal to follow the rules of normalcy. Basically, he will not bow to the rules (and Celestia by extension).

Then you should use this song for some random Chestnut colored Earth Pony that somehow had wings in 'Sonic Rainboom'.
Much of these are already my favorite songs or by my favorite artists.
Though I’m not at all familiar with the soundtracks of The Chronicles of Narnia films and Kingdom Hearts. But those are still some pretty epic themes for Celestia, Luna, and Sombra. “Simple and Clean” though I remember from a commercial I once saw for Kingdom Hearts.
I can see why you made some of the choices here. “Wunderkind” for Twilight Sparkle because she is a Wunderkind, and it mentions being a princess.
As much as I like “Little Talks”, I don’t quite see it as Applejack’s theme. I understand why you chose it: “Though the truth may vary This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.” It could see it as her theme in the episode “Leap of Faith”. I would imagine a more country inspired song for her like “Proud of the House We Built” by Brooks and Dunn.
One Republic’s “Everybody Loves Me” for Rainbow Dash… I can’t think of a better song for Rainbow Dash!
A party song celebrating being different like P!nk’s “Raise Your Glass” for Pinkie Pie. I see what you did there.
Sara Bareilles’ “Brave” for Fluttershy. Another perfect choice. If it were legal for them to sing that in “Filli Vanili”, it would have made it a lot better for me at least.
I see how Nico and Vinz’s “Am I Wrong” works with Spike. I think that’s a song my sister likes.
Kerris Dorsey’s “The Show” for Sweetie Belle is adorable!
Breaking Benjamin’s “I Will Not Bow” for Discord. Awesome! Definitely metal for Discord.
Gary Go’s cover of “Just Dance” is surprisingly fitting for Sunset Shimmer.
Hayden Panettiere’s “I Still Believe” for Princess Cadance is quite fitting. I remember hearing it on the Disney Channel years ago. Kind of reminds me how in the “Neigh Anything” comic, Shining Armor was like saying how he and Cadance were going to live in a crystal castle one day. ‘Cause he still believes in destiny!
Clara’s theme from Doctor Who for Derpy. Oh yeah!
Of course, Big Mac gets a song without words.
Of course Babs Seed from Manehattan gets “Empire State of Mind”. A New York song for the people from the streets. Not like the Taylor Swift song.
Avril Lavigne’s “Keep Holding On” for Lyra and Bon-Bon. Someone ships LyraBon.
Of course, Lindsey Stirling for Vinyl and Octavia! She’s the best of both their worlds.
I get The Outfield’s “Your Love” for Chrysalis, but I would have gone with something less chipper. Like Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t”.
Likewise, I wouldn’t have gone with something as chipper as Selena Gomez’s “Come and Get It” for Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. I would have gone with Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks".
Nightwish’s “The Kinslayer” for Tirek is awesome! It’s like a choir from Hell!
I was surprised by how well the A*Teens’ “Floorfiller” works with The Dazzlings. Probably helps that the A*Teens kind of sound like The Dazzlings. (Even the men!)
It took me a while to figure out what would compel you to choose Weird Al’s “White and Nerdy” for Snips and Snails. Then I remembered their attempt at rapping in Rainbow Rocks. That’s my jam, yo! ‘Cause I’m so White and Nerdy!
The rest of the songs are all fitting in their own way. I might put these all in a playlist or use in a story myself one day soon.
If I had to choose theme songs for some of the characters you neglected, I would go with Weird Al’s “Dare to be Stupid” for Cheese Sandwich.
Given that this song was on the soundtrack of The Transformers: The Movie, I like to think Hasbro could still use it on MLP. Maybe make it into a musical short featuring Cheese Sandwich like they did with “Shake Your Tail” from Rainbow Rocks. Or I could be wrong. I don't know how these song permission things work.
I would also go with Weird Al’s “Amish Paradise” for Pinkie’s family.
Maud Pie though get’s her own song. Queen’s “We Will Rock You”.

I also liked your alternate picks to some of my own. One of the reasons why I liked "Little Talks" with Applejack is because of this video.
Yeah, my pick for Chrysalis was a bit chipper. I just thought the whole "I just want to use your love tonight" in the song fit well with her.
Personally, "Come and Get It" doesn't really come off as chipper to me. I thought it went well with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon with the attitude Gomez kind of had in the song. I could just imagine those two brats singing that song in a mocking way in order to tease other ponies less fortunate than them.
Yeah, Snips and Snails's rap number in Rainbow Rocks was one of the reasons why I thought "White and Nerdy" went well with them.

I am reminded of a number of other songs I forgot to mention.
For some reason, I've taken to imagining that when Fluttershy blow dries her hair after taking a shower, she sings the Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj song "Bang Bang" to herself.
And I can't help imagine that if the Ponytones went out for a night of drinking, that Rarity would suggest that they learn the following song just for fun
