So.. many... references and inspirations... · 9:19pm Nov 11th, 2014
I feel like my head's full of too many ideas at one time. And a lot of the time I get them simply by listening to new music, or simply to one song over and over, making connections that aren't really there to whatever I want to write about. This is especially bad in terms of my fanfiction writing, where a single song can inspire a one-shot idea or an entire headcanon. Here's some of the music that's been in my head for the last few month that's given me potential ideas for writing (all pony/EG related. Mostly EG.)
Criminal- Fiona Apple (If Sonata were to seek redemption- also works for Sunset Shimmer in between movies)
Gods and Monsters- Lana Del Ray (For some reason I think this would be a good song for Sonata)
Middle of Starting Over- Sabrina Carpenter (Likewise, this could be Sunset Shimmer's theme song, practically. Helps that it sounds just vaguely like "Shine Like Rainbows")
Immortals- Fall Out Boy (For Aria and Sonata- and I don't even really ship them!)
It's not always songs, though. Movies like "Spaceballs" and "Cabin in the Woods" (Why didn't I think to watch this glorious movie before Netflix removed it for good? WHY!?!?!???) have also given me inspiration for a lot of potential Equestria Girls. Heck, when I rewatched "Spaceballs", I was in the midst of trying to write for my English class, and ended up with a short story where my characters were based on the Dazzlings themselves, and I had more or less based it on the escape pod scene. I ended up with an A-.
So, apparently, this;
plus this;
equals an awesome grade for me. Ponies, you have saved me. Well, now I have a poem to write for the aforementioned class, and I'm probably going to write something based on either Sonata Dusk or Sunset Shimmer. Though I have to turn in 2 poems by the end of the quarter, so maybe they'll both get a chance at stardom.
After I procrastinate some more.
And now I see another episode of YGOTAS is released. YAY!
(starts episode)
Pharaoh: Yippee- another (bleep)ing clip show!
Me: BOO!
