Banana Prince

I used to write exclusively about dragons and thought unicorns were lame. Now I write about ponies. Life can be funny sometimes.

A Pony Walks into a Police Station

    Here's the story.

So I read this and I thought there wasn't much. Nothing there I hated, nothing I thought was amazing.
It's a short story about, well, when a foal walks into a human police station.

If you want to kill, at most, 10 minutes, then I'd say it's worth a look.

    Screwball: Pony of Chaos

    The story

So I read this and it feels like there was a bit to be desired - nothing I'd call terrible. It just feels like the author had some decent ideas but wasn't too sure what to do with them. We have Screwball at a carnival. There is a world of possibilities but we get what I feel like is the bare minimum.

    Back to Reading?

Hi. So I thinking bout starting to read a bit again. I kinda miss those short ten minute one-shots. So I'm starting small with this one. So far it's... ehh... okay. It feels a little too fast paced though.

    ... And Back Again

Well I'm back. Turns out, the Navy wasn't right for me. Right now I'm looking for a job but I got my own place now. I might not have a laptop right now but I'm close to the library and so I can do more than I could in two years. Does it mean there's going to be a whole swarm of new fanfics yet? No. I got to get back into the groove I guess. Well there is an idea or two I have for longer fics but

    Leaving

Leaving December 8 for the Navy.
    Day before my birthday.
In two months, I'll have money for a laptop and then that's when the writing really begins.

1 Minute Review : Ice Age - Continental Drift · 1:35pm Nov 10th, 2014

This movie, I'll give a 6/10.
It wasn't so bad. There was beautiful animation and amazing visuals, but the movie had two major problems. The beginning was really intense, throwing the characters into danger in the "third or so" scene and it was extreme and sets a mood of hopelessness which works for the story, but it was too intense for a family film or a comedy. It went on for seven minutes and pushing the apocalyptic danger so much takes away from the threatening figure that the antagonists are supposed to have, playing all of the dramatic high-cards way too early.
Besides from that the movie suffers from what I have to call "EG syndrome". This is when the writers choose to include a vast amount of story arcs, but too much to the point when not one of the arcs get the attention to develop enough to stand out and stick with the audience. And aside from that, one arc is dependent on two cliché "boyfriend" characters that make it unbelievably predictable.
The movie, though, does have good visuals that can set the mood for a despairing tone or intense action and I feel that it is an interesting note that the movie is inspired by Greek myths and it almost seems to be reinforced throughout in kind of an arbitrary way as if trying to pander to the smarter or "myth-buff" audience, which is still pandering, but it's very out of the box in it's pandering.
Overall, it's not a classic by any means, but there is enough substance for the movie to be worth a watch to say the least.
