Editing old chapters · 1:15am Nov 1st, 2014
If you're reading my story, I'll first apologize for not writing as often as I used to. The rating has been good but among the comments have also been complaints about the story feeling rushed and lacking dialogue. I'm still writing the new chapter, but it has become clear to me that the first several chapters do not measure up to that same quality, chiefly the dialogue. Showing, not telling. Samuel's first person narative might not have been a wise choice but I'll keep working with it rather than rewriting everything at this point.
The first chapter is definately the most rushed and I thought about fixing it by including more earth-side storyline. I'll work through the chapters from then on, trying to integrate more dialogue and perhaps embelish somewhat on Samuel's descriptions which is the main flaw according to the useful feedback I have been given.
The new chapter is also waiting to be finished and I'm starting to get a handle on it now, keeping in mind that I shouldn't rush the story.
As I edit chapters, I'll leave an Author Comment at the top, outlining a few changes if you want to re-read them.
Meh. There's always room for improvement for any project so don't let all those complaints get to you. Just so long as you don't give up on it.
While the starting might have been a bit rushed that's usually something a lot of stories struggle with while working to the meat of the plot so nothing new there. And while you might worry about too much show and not enough tell don't let it drag you to the opposite extreme.
Otherwise, I look forward, as many of your fans surely do, to the new chapter and what you plan to do to revamp the existing story.

Thank you for the comment and I do plan to keep working on new chapters. Working on old ones is only a distraction and at best it will only yield a minor improvement, or at worst the editing will be overdone like you said.
I might have something for the new chapter soon depending on how busy I will be with friends and school. I know these are foolish things since they are not teh interwebz but I can't always quite shake the feeling that I need to go check up on them just the same.
