So, I've been somewhat more inactive than I'd thought I'd be, but am slowly starting to return to writing things. The next chapter of Arceus and the Displaced Village is starting to take shape, though is proving to be more of a thrash than I planned. I am also digging up some of my TCB works to try and clear that backlog, though is slow going on that front as well.
In non-pony news, I did really well on my Officer's Aptitude Rating exam, so have been busy doing paperwork, driving down to the recruiter's office to watch him fill out paperwork, and then driving back home for more paperwork. I'm starting to suspect that if I were to get cut, I'd bleed paperwork
In other non-pony news, I finally had to face the music about my car starting to reach the end of her capability to get me from point A to point B reliably. So, after some heartfelt and tearful goodbyes, we took her out behind the old shed I mean down to the local dealership to see about finding a solution to this issue. It was a bit of looking, but we did work something out:
And yes, that incredibly sexy-looking shadow is me *gets hit*
He's a little shy, and still haven't picked a name for him, but man, I got to love the get up and go adding an extra cylinder gives you
When I was much younger, I had a super neat, legible signature. I never understood why so many adults had such quick, sloppy signatures. Then I joined the military and had to sign my name more times in one week of reception than I had through the 12 years of school that preceded it. Before long, my signature had gone from neat and legible to the jiggly scrawl I had seen everywhere else, and I understood.
Consider your induction paperwork practice for the paperwork to come after you're in and going through reception (though maybe officers don't do reception? whatevs). Then there's the PCS paperwork every time you change duty station. TDY paperwork for when you go to a school or training. Voucher paperwork for when you come back. Then there's all the paperwork that comes simply as part of the regular duties of being an officer. Oh God, I don't envy you that.
A signature's the one thing you can't rubber-stamp. Your hand will move on its own. Remember that first time you were able to tie your shoes in complete blackness, without any light whatsoever? It's like that.
It's shiny, yup, super shiny.

I know that feel.
EXCEPT I'M THE ONE CAUSING THE PAIN.
"Sir? Sir! Can I get your sig for a checkout? Initial here, too. And here. Signature on the back. Oh, this needs to be in triplicate too, thanks."
No mercy.
