Dat Halloween Fic, Do · 4:26am Sep 30th, 2014
Just a short update. Kite is still on the backburner for the moment as I work on that earlier-mentioned Halloween fic. I haven't forgotten about you guys, I promise! This is more of a teaser to whet your appetite for when you do finally get to find out what happens to Best Bookpony.
It's coming along nicely. I'm five chapters in, and the story is falling into my lap as a write it. This one's been on my mind for a while now, so it's no wonder why.
I'm hoping to enter it into EqD's Halloween fic contest whenever the info for that rolls around. I don't know if it'll be anonymous or anything, but I'll keep details under wraps just in case. All I can say is my writing style for this one is nowhere near my usual. It's far more dynamic and exploratory. And that's for the better; I absolutely love how my characters are shining through, much more so than in my other stories. It's kinda mainstay of authors to say it, but this really is turning out to be my best story yet, both in terms of writing and actual plot development. (Can you tell I'm excited? That's definitely a good thing!) If you think Kite so far is a trip down Screwball Lane, this one will have you strumming your lips cross eyed.
The only asterisk is it'll have some gore to it, which I know some people are averse to. Those that like gore will be happily satisfied; those that don't shouldn't feel overwhelmed, but you'll want to lock away your jimmies just in case if you happen to read it.
Lastly, if I can find the inspiration to churn it out in time, I have a merrier one-shot idea in my head, also for Halloween, also under wraps for write-off's sake. We'll see what the future brings. Hopefully lots of inspiration and colorful ponies. Especially the latter.
EDIT: If you hear hide or tail of said EqD write-off, please tell me. I'm always late when it comes to news posts and what not.
Still need to get to reading Kite. But I think it will do fine in the competition. Also, I look forward to a nice one-shot.
