    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

Saw Rainbow Rocks · 8:08pm Sep 27th, 2014

Indeed, there are rainbows. And indeed, it rocked. Don't have a lot of time right now, so that's all I have to say.

Oh, and Sunset Shimmer is Best Human.

Well I guess it will be quite some time until I see it, probably depending if there is a UK version of the DVD (dratted regional locks).

2488432 Just wait, it'll end up online soon enough.

Glad to see it's a good movie.

I enjoyed it immensely myself.

Sunset is awesome.

You actually lived in an area where you could see it.

I am so jealous that I hate you. I hope a safe falls on your head and injures you in a cartoonish way that will end with your totally bandaged self riding a gurney down a busy street.

2488498 Into a cabbage cart, right?

GAHHH! An I did I test hat is useless to me in the long run for nothing while I could've ben watching this? WHY?

2488498 That is a little too extreme, isn't it?

2488646

I forgot to mention the part where the gurney hits the sidewalk and he goes flying through a window into a vat of pudding. Pistachio pudding.

Wonder if she ever feels crippling dysphoria or misses her family or misses the ability to perform magic.

Sounds fun. I shall be sure to shout "CLOUSEAU!" as long as possible during my ride.

Also to be fair we have to drive, like, an hour to get to it, so it wasn't exactly close.

You'll enjoy it when you see it, I think.

Yyyup.

My personal theory is that in the Equestria Academy series, or at least its pilot, Twilight will serve as an antagonist. Not a villain, just an antagonist. I think Sunset Shimmer is gonna be our "mane" character.

I had a theory based on what I saw with Twi in the trailer, namely she tries to do the magic friendship thing, but it isn't strong enough or isn't working right and Sunset manages to step up and pull it off? Also, were the principals at all on the ball with this, a scene in the trailer implied so, but another did not?

I could also go an check the wiki, :facehoof:

Anyway good you enjoyed it, I shall have to read it sometime, because I hate movie theaters. :twilightblush:

Um...a movie theater in Massachusetts? I went to actually see the movie, I didn't pirate it.

2489933
The villains get to the principles early. So they're not on the ball but it's not their fault, since in this world they're not godlike alicorns, just principles.

2490336
I have my own little crack theory that "principles" Celestia and Luna are actually working for the government to observe and contain the portal to Equestria as part of something akin to the FBI, or a specific branch of the FBI dedicated to dealing with supernatural events, like the X-Files.

I see there being a secret government lab underneath the school that studies the occult, perhaps like something similar to the Initiative in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

2490336
Guess I misread the scene form the trailer with them looking all planny and mysterious while looking through some blinds. :twilightblush: TY for the info.

Though why I didn't get an alert for this I don't know, glad I checked.

2489933

They were brainwashed by the Dazzlings, as showed in the preview.
In all honesty, I´m surprised at this point there are still people who expects Celestia or Luna to do something on a national crisis. For me, they are like World of Warcraft´s quest giver.

It's more hope than expect, I can see your point though.

I shall have to read it sometime, because I hate movie theaters.

:fluttershbad: What? But the book can't possibly do the movie justice! Besides animation/visual gags, there's the fact that it's a musical film. You have no idea how well the lyrics and musical style of the Dazzlings' songs and the visuals that accompany them illustrate how evil they are; it's really magnificent! You don't have to go to a theater to see the movie; you can just watch a recording of it or wait to see it on the Hub Discovery Family. . . .

:twilightblush: I just meant read the wiki play by play of the movie, and then probably watch the musical somewhere. Still, I will keep your suggestion in mind, TY.
