Ponies May Be Leaving The Hub · 2:46am Sep 18th, 2014
Kinda shocking on its surface, but I don't think The Hub was doing all that well outside of the ratings from MLP/Equestria Girls. Discovery will probably turn it into a reality TV wasteland in order to make money.
If they do end up on Cartoon Network, that is probably open the show up to a much wider audience. CN is on more basic cable packages. I have to wonder if that's a good or bad thing for the fandom. But I'll be happy as long as quality episodes keep being the majority.
I'm... hmm... I dunno. DHX is the one who animates it and creates the show, right? The Hub just airs it? There's a lot more that goes into making Pony great than just the Hub (though they helped). I'll panic completely when I see a reason, but I'll keep this piece of slightly unnerving news in mind.
Um... Well. I'm not sure what to think about this at the moment.
I do have to agree with that last line, though.
2463677 I don't think it's the end of ponies or anything. MLP is way too successful to just fall by the wayside. I think it's actually a good thing for them. Joining Cartoon Network would mean a lot more exposure.
My only real concern is the fandom becoming diluted. I already feel like we have moved pretty far from the friendliness that characterized bronies at the beginning. Even more fans means even more jerks. It's probably inevitable, though. Even without a wider exposure, I think people get tired of being nice all the time.
Whatever keeps the pony coming is good with me.
2463677 Oh, and I've been meaning to say congrats on that new story. It did really well!
2463690 I don't think it will mean a whole lot for ponies. If they do leave the hub, I'm sure Cartoon Network or Fox will snap it up. It's like printing money right now.
2463701 Thank you. I'm surprised at how well, actually (Magnum Opus Dissonance. No exceptions) but it's good.
Yeah, that was always a problem with the fandom getting diluted, but if 100 more people come in, that make art and stories, one might make the next Lullaby for a Princess or Past Sins or Children of the Night. Or Cupcakes. But you know...

If it moves to Cartoon Network, then it'll be a very good thing. Not only does it open the show up, but current fans who might not be able to afford the expensive cable packages that have the Hub might be able to watch it. I see what you mean about exposure, though. It is a two-sided coin, but I'd take the odds.
If it moves anywhere else, then it will be a very bad thing.
This worries me a bit, but I'm happy as long as I get more good pony cartoons from somewhere.
As long as it moves to CN or vortex, I'm happy
Interesting. The situation's still developing, so I'll withhold any further reactions until I learn more.
If it moves to another network, will it still be available on youtube? That's my worry.
Huh, for some reason I fully expected this to be some sort of Scotland-related satire.
2464394 It's not like Hasbro has always been the most indulgent about letting stuff like that slide. I mean, this site exists, so there's some leeway, but last time I was using Youtube for full episodes regularly they were taking them down about as fast as they could find them. (Don't know if that's still the case; I pretty much only use Yayponies except for new eps, for which there's usually a working link on /r/mylittepony.)
Honestly I'm more worried about The Aquabats! Super Show! than Pony, which will certainly continue somewhere. And I haven't been keeping up with TASS anyway; for all I know, it's been cancelled.
