I am in serious need of help. Today, I found out a close friend of mine, one of the oldest I know, has been lying to me for nearly 8 months. I've been helping him financially since Christmas, sending a little bit of money when needed.
Find out today that he has NOT been spending it wisely. Found out he'd rather spend it on a certain 'substance'.
So right now, I'm shook to core with rage and hating humanity. My trust issues are flared up and I have nothing but hatred on the mind. If any of you have any advice, phrases or even pictures to help me feel better, please share. Because right now, I feel like a joke and a fool.

Also I recommend helping your friend so that when he is healthy again he will be greatful and repay you back (this is coming from experience btw )
Something similar to this happened to be back in Sixth Form. A good friend of mine was having trouble with some of his subjects, he'd struggled in school and had had a hard time getting anyone to take him on in Sixth Form. So I, being a bit of a egghead as our favourite pegasus would say, I offered to help him.
I spent ages with textbooks and assignments helping him out with what to me seemed a fairly mediocre subject *cough* media studies *cough*. I gave up a lot of my free time for this. At the end of the year, he'd managed to get one E, out of four courses, the others were all U. It turned out that instead of studying, he'd spent most of his time in the sports centre across the road playing pool.
While it didn't affect me as much as your own incident, it did piss me off and make me feel stupid. He was by no means dumb, and I'd spent Celestia knows how long helping him when I could have been taking a break from my own work which was much more demanding.
Unfortunately, it's one of those harsher lessons in the magic of friendship; not everyone who seems to be your friend is. Now you could simply say 'I'm not going to trust anyone ever again; all humans are bastards' and never put yourself in that position of risk. Or you could do what I did, which is dust yourself off, accept what has happened (however annoying that may be) and move on. Not everyone is going to use you, and most of the time you can depend on your friends, who I sincerely doubt see you as a fool, more likely, they'll rally around you to help you feel better.

Don't worry man, this kinda thing happens to everyone. The best advice i can give is to not let this stop you being the kind, caring person you obviously are. It wont be easy, as betrayal of this magnitude is hard to ignore, but if you can get past it, it will be worth it.

I may not have had a friend do something that serious, but I have been betrayed be people who I thought were my friend. The best advice I can give you is to think, do you still want to be friends with that person? I'm not saying you have to do this, I'm probably too young to understand these things, but I know what betrayal is, and I want to help those who are affected by it. Thank you for reading this.
