Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

HiE Omake - Pain in the ice part 2

"So explain this to me again. Why exactly are we out here in the gardens?" Discord asked, confused as to how he'd gotten dragged into this predicament.

"It's quite simple, Discord," Celestia replied as she trotted along next to the spirit of chaos. "Luna decided to partake in the ALS ice bucket challenge. And she in turn challenged me to do the same," she explained.

"You know you didn't have to accept, right?" Discord asked as they walked along. "This is ridiculous even by my own standards."

"Perhaps. But it is for a good cause, Discord. Surely you can understand that," Celestia stated, "it certainly wouldn't hurt for you to do something charitable once in a while..."

Discord laughed in response to Celestia's statement.

"I'm all about charity, my dear 'Tia. Once a week, Fluttershy and I visit the foal's hospital and entertain all the little kiddies. You'd be surprised how much of a sport dear Fluttershy can be when you put a little grease paint on her," Discord commented.

Celestia wasn't sure what to make of Discord's statement. Visiting sick foals didn't sound like his cup of chocolate milk to her. But he'd certainly managed to surprise her in the past. But the idea of Fluttershy actually dressing up like a clown... that was just plain hard to swallow.

"So why exactly are we doing this in the gardens and not the omake room anyway?" Discord asked her. "And why did I have to get involved just to carry the camera? Surely there was somepony else better qualified than me."

"Because the janitor raised a fit at the mess Luna and Ulquiorra made in there. And besides, you haven't had any exposure since the changeling arc. You're due for an outing," Celestia replied as if it were nothing. "I still find it hard to believe that Ulquiorra actually got involved in this at all."

"The lad's full of surprises," was all Discord could say in response and shrugged.

Celestia said nothing. Right now she didn't feel like getting into a discussion with Discord. Instead she simply opted for stopping her pace, once she was sure the spot was suitable for this. With that, she flexed her magic and summoned a hard-walled wading pool filled with ice water. She wasn't about to trust Discord not to screw this up somehow; deliberately or otherwise.

"Set the camera up, Discord," she said simply, and waited for the spirit of chaos to give her the thumb's up that she was good to proceed. "Hello everyone in Equestria. As you know, I'm Princess Celestia, and my little sister, Luna, challenged me to take up the ALS ice bucket challenge. Not being in a monetary position to contribute otherwise, I've chosen to go this route."

With that, Celestia levitated the wading pool up over head, and upended the contents on top of her, flattening out her mane and tail in the process as the chilled water washed over her.

Her stoicness remained intact. For about two seconds. After which the chill immediately set in, and became too much even for her to resist.

"Oh f-f-fuck that's cold!" she shrieked, much to Discord's endless amusement. Both at her being dripping wet, and her choice of language. "A-alright. I took the ice bucket challenge. So now I nominate Rarity to take the ice bucket challenge. She's a charitable soul. Rarity, you've got twenty four hours to respond."
