Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

HiE Omake - Pain in the ice

"Is the camera on?" Ulquiorra asked as he watched Princess Luna fiddle with the device as she held it within her magic.

"I believe it is," Luna spoke as she looked away from the digital video camera and over at Ulquiorra. "I will admit that I am still not familiar with the recent developments of modern technology," she admitted. "I am still not in full understanding of the new Playstation 4..."

"Neither is the head of the Sony company," Ulquiorra muttered as he stood by, observing Princess Luna as she struggled with the device.

"Huzzah! It is working!" she cheered and turned the device to Ulquiorra.

"Is it level?" Ulquiorra asked.

"Yes it is level. Proceed already," Luna replied, annoyed with the line of questioning that was being presented right now.

"Very well then," Ulquiorra replied and turned his attention to the camera. "I am Ulquiorra Cifer, and I see fit to take up the ALS ice bucket challenge," he calmly stated.

"Pray tell, what exactly is this ALS we keep hearing about?" Luna asked from off screen.

"Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. A neurodegenerative disease that affects the muscles, causing them to seize up and eventually kill the person who suffers from it. A disease for which there is no cure, and the only treatments are of questionable effectiveness," Ulquiorra explained. His stoic detailing of the matter was met with a shocked gasp from Luna.

"Such horror!" she stated.

"Indeed," Ulquiorra replied.

"And how does this... ice bucket challenge? How exactly is it to help those cursed with this affliction?" Luna asked curiously.

"By raising awareness of the existence of the disease in the form of an online video of viral popularity. Participants can either dump a bucket of ice water on their heads, or donate money in hopes of developing a cure through greater research. Some choose to do both. Being without currency, I have chosen the former," Ulquiorra explained as he reached off screen and dragged over a fifty five gallon trashcan, the icy contents sloshing and rattling about from the sudden movement.

"And is there a particular reason you did not want the others to know about your decision to do this?" Luna asked. Was the Espada... embarrassed about others finding out that he actually cared about certain matters?

"Pinkie Pie," Ulquiorra stated simply. "I had no interest in seeing what form of exaggeration she could engage in, should she get involved," he explained.

"Fair enough," Luna replied and nodded. She could easily understand that sort of reasoning.

With nothing further left to say, Ulquiorra took hold of the barrel and lifted it above his head, before tipping it over and letting the icy contents spill down over his head, saturating his Espada garb in the process, and creating an icy puddle all over the floor, that sent Luna hopping back to avoid getting wet as well.

With that part done, Ulquiorra discarded the barrel, showing no sign of being negatively affected by the coldness of the water.

"Is that it?" Luna asked.

"It's customary to pass the challenge along to others, leaving them twenty four hours to respond. But I don't believe there is anyone worth issuing the challenge to," Ulquiorra replied.

Luna said nothing in response, before turning the camera around to face her, showing the frown she wore. The camera was quickly levitated over to where Ulquiorra stood, until he took it in his hands. All the while, not understanding any of it.

Without a word Luna flexed her magic and levitated the spilled water, and the remnants of the scattered cubes, up into the air.

"I am Princess Luna, and I accept the ALS ice bucket challenge!" she declared, before dropping the content of her magic right on top of herself.

Unlike Ulquiorra, she was unable to maintain her stoicness as the cold water seeped through her coat.

"Mother of Faust that is teat biting cold!" she shrieked, feeling her breath caught in her throat. "How do humans do this to themselves?" she asked.

"From what I understand, the purpose of the ice water is to serve as incentive to donate money to the cause," Ulquiorra explained from off camera.

"Ah. That would make sense then," Luna replied as she shivered. "I now pass the the challenge onto my sister. 'Tia, you have twenty four hours to respond!" she declared.

This couldn't end well. Ulquiorra was certain of that.
