And With That, The Wolf Revealed Is Finally Done! · 5:38pm Aug 19th, 2014
So another story arc in MLC has drawn to a close. To celebrate, I'm going to share some notes I made of the arc.
First, Shakey and Eagle Eye took off better than I expected. I was really just going for two generic guys to fill headcount for scenes that called for Roaring Yawn to have companions. (I mean, no way somepony as controlling as Rose Blade would let a scientist out of his sight, right?) But they actually turned out fairly interesting and likable, in my opinion. So we may be seeing more of them later. This story could use some comic relief anyway.
Second, I'm honestly bummed I couldn't put Princess Cadance into this story arc. Don't worry, she shows up in the next one, but I really wanted to have a scene where she speaks to another character while imprisoned. (And yes, the character she speaks to is actually a really important one! I'll have to introduce him some other way.) It's really rare for me to write her, so I relish the chances I get to do that.
Third, I believe there was another scene I said I deleted. I forget the reasons I listed, but the scene would have had Rose Blade in his office before the alarm goes off, going over in his mind the things he'd do with Rainbow Dash. He planned on recording Shatterstorm's screams (which actually was mentioned earlier in the story), then playing them over his gramophone on repeat. He planned to tell Rainbow Dash while... you know... that he'd had Shatterstorm executed anyway. Then he would trade her to Dracula's forces as a completely broken pony, and the last thing he wished he could see on her face was emptiness and destruction of spirit, the complete opposite of the courage she had when she came in.
Oh, wait, now I remember why I didn't write this scene! Because it's fucking disturbing!
Moving along, I'm kind of upset that I threw in the Red Haze thing. I honestly don't know if it's going to impact anything. I mean, we could chalk it up to Roaring Yawn making an Ass Pull (which he was), but I don't know why the heck I thought it was a good idea to write that little article on her in the Author's Notes. Bad attempt at world-building, hooooo!
All right, now with these notes out of the way, I want to see what questions you guys, the readers, have for me so far. Did Rainbow Dash feel in-character? Did Shatterstorm finally become a decent OC? Were you hoping for more appearances from Castlevania villains? Go ahead and shoot me any questions you got in that little comment boxie-thingy down there.
To put it simply, everything was fine, and as long as we get to see Cadence and some Castlevania villains at some point down the line then all is good.
