Half the time I don't even know how I do what I seem to do so well. I try not to think too hard on it, for fear of breaking myself in the process.

I have an idea, and I need some feedback because this might be a big one

It goes without saying, I'm not the fastest writer around these parts. Not anymore at least. Anymore it takes time to get an idea figured out, written down, and refined to the point I want to release it for being read. But this doesn't lend itself well to getting the chapters and updates churned out. And unfortunately it leaves you with more ideas being backlogged than you want to admit. It

    Small update

Ever since the last chapter I've been stumped on what to do with the next chapter.

I'm happy to report that I'm 1.3K words into the next chapter, so things are slowly but surely getting done.

    Not dead

Neither I nor the story are dead as of the time of this posting.

Turns out writing Ulquiorra from the outside perspective of uninitiated ponies is a lot harder than I thought it'd be, and I'm having to spend a lot more time in the brainstorming stage than I'm accustomed to.

    Why?

Why is it so damn hard to write at times?

Why does the prospect of sitting down to type up an idea and give it physical form, seem to just suck the life and enthusiasm right out of you?

    A thought

The current chapters for HIE are proving to be a lot harder to write than I thought. Even harder when you've got distracted thoughts flaunting themselves at you.

HiE Omake -

"We're coming back! We're coming back! We're coming back! Woohoo!"

That was the yell that rang throughout the room as an excited Rainbow Dash rocketed about, a rainbow spectral trail being left in her wake as she swooped, zipped, spun, and carried out numerous other acrobatic stunts about the drab area; much to both the amusement and chagrin of the others present.

Rarity just shook her head, before turning to face Twilight.

"Is it really true that we're coming off of hiatus?" she asked.

"That's what I heard. supposedly we're scheduled for regular updates starting next week," Twilight replied.

"So tha' means no more filler?" Applejack asked.

"That's pretty much it. Apparently the filler was put on hold in favor of extensive writing for the main storyline. So to anyone who wanted to see where the crossover with "Resident Evil 5" goes, we apologize for that," Twilight replied as she turned to face the screen.

"Oh. Well then... shouldn't somepony mention that to our guest?" she asked as she gestured over to the far corner of the room. The others turned to look over in the direction and saw Ulquiorra was currently sitting in a folding chair in front of a coffee table. Across the table, and in an identical folding chair, was Ablert Wesker, sitting silently with his elbows resting on his legs, and his gloved fingers interlaced to support his chin, staring intently behind his sunglasses at the game board resting on the table.

"Um... what exactly are they doing? Are they... are they actually playing checkers?" Pinkie asked, not believing it herself. "With tension this thick, shouldn't they be playing chess or something?"

"Well when they tried tha' the first time, Mr. Wesker took his king an' stabbed Mr. Cifer in the neck. So Mr. Cifer responded in turn wit' his queen an' stabbed Mr. Wesker in the temple. So now it's checkers so there ain' no pointy things available," Applejack explained.

"Seriously?" Rainbow Dash asked as she stopped her excited flying about, and settled in for a low hover to watch the two. "And I thought I played for keeps," she commented.

Not a move was made between the two of them for the next several minutes. The sound of the clock on the wall ticking away was the loudest thing heard in the room. Finally Wesker reached a conclusion and made his move, jumping one of Ulquiorra's white pieces and claiming it.

Ulquiorra, without so much as a blink or a pause, took his piece of choice and proceeded to jump five of Wesker's black pieces, with his piece coming to a rest on Wekser's side of the board.

"Crown me," Ulquiorra stated evenly as he collected his captured pieces, putting Wesker at a severe tactical disadvantage.

Wesker's response came in a snort, as he quickly stood up from where he sat and drew his two-toned Samurai Edge pistol from his holster, and shot Ulquiorra right between the eyes.

The others jumped at the sound of the report and dropped for cover when it became clear that gunplay was going to be involved.

Ulquiorra on the other hand remained unfazed, as a severely mushroomed bullet dropped harmlessly to the coffee table with a clatter. Without a word he slowly stood up from where he sat. And despite being a head shorter than Wesker, he commanded a far more intimidating presence. A fact that Wesker was slowly beginning to realize for himself.

"... Perhaps I a little rash in my actions," was all he had to say on the matter.
