    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

    Welp, another year older and...

...still writing ponies. (Among other things, granted.)

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

Hello, everyone!

So after several people mentioned this thing to me, I finally created a Patreon Account!

This is a tip-service, so I will write stories here regardless, but it helps me and you in several ways:

First of all, it's a serious incentive for writing which gets you an actual reward, rather than "just helping"(1).

Second of all, some rewards for incentives are going to actually propel my career beyond simply pony words. Some of the rewards actually involve writing beyond here and are very much appreciated!

Third: You do help, every time you read a story and like it, or send a dollar my way, or leave a comment of support is awesome, and with patreon you can help a bit more by spreading the word that an author is emerging from the ashes.

Anyway, if you take a look I will really much appreciate it!

~WD

(1)Note: I say 'just helping' but know that every time you've helped save my sorry ass I've been flooded with gratitude and that my words barely can express my sincerity.

Edit: Please PM me if you become a patron, either here or there, just to make sure you get your reward and my gratitude!

Congrats! Here's to a better future!

Cool! I'll definitely chip in, once I find another job! XD
(Not sure I told you, but I'm having to quit my current job because it's not warking out. Still, I won't rest until I get another job!)

I like it, but I feel like you should have more between $10 and $50, since that's a jump from $120 per year to $600 per year, which might shut out some possible patrons.

2345922 Hm... what do you think would be an agreeable intermediate?

2346069
Probably $15 or $20, and maybe one for $30. After all, that translates out to $180, $240, and $360 a year, respectively, big jumps for a small difference. It'd give people more options and maybe give you a little more work, but probably more patrons. :scootangel:

2346088 Okay, let's say 20, what would be good rewards for that?

-You get to sit my ass down and write an original short story dedicated to you, minimum 15k words AND you get to choose the genre of the story!

Urge to be evil... rising...

I'm supporting the D! Wait, that sounded better in my head...:fluttershysad:

Possibly editing/proofreading a whole chapter/short story, doing collabs with them, including them in a story, or other stuff like that. Just creative stuff that can be awesome for the patron but not make you pay a lot.

Oh man can I totally steal this format :O

Bro, if I wasn't already forced to be looking for a new home about now, I'd toss ya a few bucks. But damn... every week? 3500 word minimum? Two stories per week?

I salute thee. Best of luck!

2346762 If it becomes too much I'll pause the patreon, fulfill the ones I have until I've done them and then go from there.

2346184 The thought alone alone of D writing comical adorable crackships with certain characters is a tempting idea. Perhaps some other time.

WDxAlextraza Pulpfiction tragic bromance story with knighty guest starring as Sylvester Stapone will just have to wait.

2346762 Also, I'm limiting it to one story per donor.

I'm tempted to help just because you are doing the donations per piece of content instead of by month like most people. Plus I hear you are a pretty good writer.

This may sound a little weird... but I'm really glad to see you do this. It saddens me that so much more than other content producers, fanfiction writers get the adoration of their fans and little else. It effects how people see fanfiction and the fanfiction community which already struggles for validation because, hey, everyone can write, right?

It's frustrating because it's not just that fanfiction is based in intellectual properties that the writer doesn't own. Fanartists do commissions all the time. If they're good, some of them can even make an approximation of a living at it, wheras fanfiction writers are always faced with the pressure that they should "go legit" if they ever want to amount to anything.

Most people reading this probably think by now that I'm saying this because I have an inflated sense of what my writing is worth, but it's not. Quite the opposite, really. If I thought that I were in any way capable of fulfilling the obligations of a Patreon campaign or comfortable doing so, I would, sure, but I'm not and I don't.

I tried a while back to encourage Flattr as a thing among writers here and set one up for myself as an example, hoping that the presence of one such person would ease the failings of the system. It... didn't work. I got donations, sure, but it didn't end up helping anyone but myself, so I quietly swept it under the rug and removed mention of it from my author's notes. I still have one subscriber who gives me money every month... and I cringe because I feel guilty if I haven't done anything to earn it. That's not how it should work.

Patreon, on the other hand, I like. It's simple, it doesn't require wide adoption to make sense, and it rewards action. Good luck with it, D, I hope it all works out for you.

2347398 I can only say you should probably take a look around at my stories and see if you like them before you become a patron for any of them. As much as I appreciate the much-needed help, I'd rather you really enjoyed the results!

2347421
Yeah, that's what I figured to do, but I wanted to compliment you on it anyway. Guess it's time to move the half-dozen stories of yours further up the to-read list.

This is a great idea, D. I love Patreon and you totally deserve to be able to pay bills with horsefic, but I don't normally sign on for the "per content" things because they're a bit unpredictable on the supporter's end.

When you say per content, what exactly do you consider that? A new chapter? A new story? I'd just like to know.

2347997 in my case I consider it a chapter plus bonus.

So if you pledge 50 "content" would include the chapter plus the original, non-pony story, etc.

Cool, I guess I'll look into this when I'm not dead tired on my feet. If I feel like throwing a dollar or two at a writer regularly, I know who I want to throw it too. Keep being awesome.

Edit: Also a random note, nice 3333 followers.

2348083
Seems reasonable. Happy is the man who can give $50 to the arts every week, though. :moustache:

What exactly does the language on the milestones mean? (Congratulations on meeting them so fast, by the way.) "Every week this goal is achieved"? Are these one time milestones, are you going to be writing new stuff weekly, or is this language left over from before a swap to 'per content' payment?

Sure, I got a couple extra dollars to send your way
