A little bit crazy and a sucker for the happy ending, you just might not know what you're going to get. Read at your own sanity's risk.

  • EPonyville, USA
An unknown event suddenly rips all of Ponyville out of its place in space and time and places the entire town and all it's inhabitants on a ranch in Colorado. As the ponies, and humans, adjust to this event, more strange events start happening.

    Well, Hey Everybody

I think I'm ready to write again.

Don't know how it's gonna go but I decided I'll never know unless I finish it.

    I will return

Sorry everybody for the long disappearance, and I regret to inform you that it will be longer. I have tried over the last several months to include these stories, which I love to do, among my priorities but it just wasn't happening.

    HOWEVER!!!

    Season Five

Just watched the first two episodes of season five, and I gotta say I like the direction they're taking. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but it does seem like a lot of fun. Though just a quick reminder for my prime story Ponyville USA, I have it labeled alternate universe because the break in story occurs right after season 3.

    Delays

So so so sorry ya'll! I would have had the new chapter about a week and a half ago, but the universe combined with work, school, and a nasty cold to deny me such an endeavor. Hopefully, and I really do so with hope, I'll have it done, edited, and posted by the end of the weekend. Thanks for your patience!

    700!?

Last June, I was in the midst of writing another story that had experience mild success. I had been enthralled by that. That story had been my first, but I felt like I really wanted to start another one. After coming up with several ideas (some of which I still want to do) I settled on Ponyville, USA.

Where should I go with this · 7:04pm Jul 16th, 2014

This seemed like a good way to get this question out to a lot of people quickly.

I'm deciding how I'm going to proceed from here. The first option we have is I concentrate mostly on the story like much like I have been so far, the consequence being that it's over in like 10 or so chapters, maybe a few more.

The other option, though it would slow down the story a lot, is add a lot more slice of life type interactions between Pony and Human, maybe even entire "filler " chapters with just that. It would take longer and extend the story quite a lot, probably over 30 chapters.

Which do you prefer for this story?

Option 2. Definitely. Sometimes it's a good idea to balance out plot with filler.

I'd say two in moderation. I don't think entire chapters should be filler. If you are truly dead set on making filler chapters, make a side-stories story to put them in. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to have one of your favorite stories update only to find out it's a filler chapter. You don't want to do that to your dedicated readers.

Option 2.

I would like option 2 because I like where the story is and is going and I dont want this to turn into another 10 chapter piece of crap, so please continue as long as you can.
thanks!!!

I ask because I realized that my worst tendency as a writer is to make things more succinct and to the point. Chapter 4 will probably still feel a little fast, but so far the sentiment is overwhelmingly to slow down and make it longer.

And so I shall.

Mildly 2, though I am extremely skeptical of the '10 chapters and done' claim. Unless you're planning on a sequel, that is a shit-ton of stuff to solve in a short period of time. More than I can reasonably see getting resolved in 10 chapters, given the geopolitical ramifications of this literally earth-changing event.

This is on top of my misgivings about your depiction of Dash and the worrying tack you're taking on the government (though it could just be in-character paranoia.)

I also like option 2. Slice of life interactions between ponies and humans, encountering the differences in their lifestyles, are often fun.

I say take a shot at some slice of life. It sounds more funnnerererer

I'm not entirely sure that either option is completely viable. Given how much of the world is going to change, it seems like there is too much going on to make it short and sweet, but also too much that simple Slice-o-Life stuff seems just like filler. Granted, it wouldn't hurt to have some filler every now and then, but I think the overall feeling of tension shouldn't really be forgotten all too much.

I'm all for some slice of life. Anna hasn't really interacted with most of the ponies, and unless I missed it, she really hasn't met Fluttershy yet. (I would pay to see that.) Also, I would love to see the rest of the family coming to Ponyville and making friends with the residents. Comparisons between Earth and Equestria would also really fun to delve into.

2291654 Don't worry about Dash. She's my favorite character by miles so she will not be left on a limb.

Whatever you do don't freaking ship the pony's with the humans, it would add so many American cliche's you could drown in them, (deriving 100 chapters from a single ship is easy, just add angst). Anyway use both options, some filler is nice, unless it doesn't help the story at all, also use it to explain different subjects like maybe how strange the weather phenomena is to the weather services and how the Government is trying to derive a way to copy the pegasi's weather control powers.

Or maybe how Unicorns can use levitation and general magic and be able to teach it to the other people.:twilightsmile:if it's filler that is fun then you can easily please the readers, however try and make sure there is substance to any social fillers, many readers are bored to tears when authors play the 'everyone chips in their two bits card, yeah rainbow has seemed to cockblock most of the fun stuff that I like, but also she kept the plot going rather than allowing it to stagnate on points involving extended explanations on how certain things worked.'

anyway keep up the good work.

My vote is slice of life, there is a lot going on in a town of 1000 ponies displaced from home. For now there in emergency mode, but what about a few days. What about trader ponies in town whose livelihood revolves around import and export how do they cope. Does the masses of Ponyville just blindly go along to do malcontents rise up to wrest power from they Mayor and a clueless princess twilight. There should be potential for a long series if you want to, it all comes down to what your willing to do.

Slice o life way. Longer = better. (As long as it's not to slow)

My vote is slice of life. The concept doesn't feel complete without slice of life.

I vote for option 2.

You should make Asher and/or Twilight (:twilightangry2:) go absolutely Super Saiyan on Rainbow Dash for her stupidity.

Why not do both?

Hear me out: The slice of life stuff I'd like to read would be all kinds of little vignettes, so that you can have interactions with as many different ponies as possible, and I doubt there would need to be all that much continuity from one of these little scenes to the next. So why not stick with a 10-chapter plot-driven story for "Ponyville, USA", then create a new story called "The United States of Ponyville" or something like that, and put the SoL stuff in there? The best part of this is pacing: too much SoL in "Ponyville, USA" is going to make your readers antsy when you keep foreshadowing big things on the horizon that take forever to happen, but with two stories, there's no reason why that second one ever has to end.

Besides, if Hoopy McGee can get away with doing the exact same thing with "Project Sunflower", so can you.

Option 2. More to read.

You could do both. You could finish the story and then have a link to a separate story just containing filler chapters as they happen. Ive seen other authors do this before although im not sure if this is good or not.:trixieshiftleft:

While I'm never one to take quantity over quality, I am a huge fan of these types of character interactions. Option 2, please :pinkiehappy:

This is a big change for the world at large. Documenting all the possibilities that could arise from this would make for a really long story, but also a believable, engaging one. I vote that you implement both options in ways that will allow the main story to proceed while giving enough time for plenty of human/pony interactions that don't necessarily involve the main characters, or even just Ponyville. Hell, the way parts of Equestria are popping into Earth, you could have segments about Changelings being stuck in Africa and being forced to make a desperate living in a land that is full of violence, starvation, and superstitious people, dragons appearing in Europe, the Bison Tribes showing up on the American Plains and meeting our normal bison, the possibilities here are virtually endless, and you should make sure we can see how the world is reacting at large and not just focus on the narrow perspective of the main characters. But that's just my two cents.

The biggest point of worry are actually parasprites - if those things get dumped in some tropical jungle somewhere without anyone nearby who knows how to contain them, we would be looking at the end of days and the downfall of both human and pony races as the colorful cloud of doom devours civilization across the globe in a matter of a week or so while multiplying exponentially :pinkiecrazy:
