Something you probably didn't know about Loré · 5:55pm Jul 16th, 2014
I feel like doing this little blog because probably no one has actually noticed the subtext I've placed into The Path of Lore and Kings. So, I want to reveal one little thing I did in it that either none cared about, or none noticed.
Loré never hated Twilight, at all. All her hate was for herself.
I purposefully made it so that whenever Loré directed hate towards twilight, the things she mentioned were things that could be applied to herself. Except for friendship, which she always said in a different tone to the rest, either exaggerated (over compensation) or sarcastically (She didn't mean it). She used Twilight throughout the story as something to focus her frustrations on as she couldn't place them on herself. This is the reason why she never really said Twilight's name. She always mispronounced it, as Twilight wasn't where the loathing belonged.
I further mirrored the two by making Namworth an assistant to Loré, just like Spike to Twilight, to help drive home the symmetry between the two characters. Also, there is one point where Loré mentions Twilight's name in anger, and that's after the spell failed. This was done right after Loré felt like she had gotten on track with being friendly, with being a pony she actually enjoyed being. It was a key factor to lessen her self-loathing and make her feel good enough about herself to direct the frustrations from the spell to Twilight, instead of herself.
Just felt like sharing this little tidbit of information with people who've read my story. Who knows, maybe knowing this will make you see Loré in a new light :O
Now that you mention it, I did notice. Weird, it's like knowing how to use a word in a sentence without knowing it's definition.
So this proves it! Spike IS a slave to Twi
Dude, I totally didn't catch that. That's kinda brilliant, dude.
2292776 Aaww, glad that you think it's brilliant. I was pretty pleased with my idea when I thought of using it in the fic I am a bit proud of this one fic, as I put a lot of subtext into it
