What, you thought I'd be done?
Come on now, I may be wishy-washy and an attention whore, but I'm not shallow. At least, no more than your typical erotically-inclined author.
As it stands, I still have some unfinished business to attend to. There's the matter of the extended Archmage universe to extrapolate upon, finishing Melody's Tale, and any future works I may consider. Sadly for you, this does mean I'm going to start moving away from writing for the fandom.
My reasons are my own, but I'll tell you a few of them here. Primarily, I feel as if the interest in pony fanfiction has dulled significantly over the course of the past year. I may be imagining things, but it seems as if a few other users share my sentiment in this matter. Secondly, I want to eventually make a living off of the work I produce. I cannot do that writing about licensed and copyrighted characters. Thus, I'm going to begin producing my own independent work, chiefly of my own inspiration.
First and foremost on that list is my fantasy story, 'Mage.' It focuses on a fantasy world where magic isn't this old and archaic thing that's slowly dying out, seen only very rarely. I wanted to crate a fantasy world where magic wasn't just prevalent and a regular part of everyone's everyday life, I wanted it to be rampant. Everywhere. Volatile and unchecked.
The second work I have planned is, rather unsurprisingly, a re-imagining of Intimate Details. Rather than be a humanized story of Rarity and Octavia in Canterlot, It will be about two human working-class women in Seattle. With any luck, I can produce an erotic drama with no ties to MLP or their related characters.
My last work I plan on producing is, sadly, a vampire story. With a twist, though. It's set in a modern world where the fantasy creatures you've seen or read about are alive and well, hiding under the thin veneer of social decency. The story's very young and not fleshed out much at all, but I do have plans to develop it into something meaningful - hopefully soon.
But I'm not forsaking the MLP fandom. Not just yet. I do have a plan moving into Beyond the Crystal Mirror and Square One, and both stories will be seen through to completion, one way or another. Melody's Tale will remain on Hiatus, and I think I've all but given up on Memoirs, Polish, And Untold Chapters. Those stories may remain on Hiatus, but will likely be cancelled sooner than later.
I know this is some disappointing news for some of you, but I hope the majority of you will see that I'm branching out, exploring my capabilities as an author. With time (And no small amount of luck) I may become published one day.
I think it's about damn time I take that first step.
Would you just give up already you hack? We could start our own road side eatery selling fried cheeses. The tourists here in florida love that shit.

And I really love your work and think personally that you are an amazing writer (Moonstone and Archmage are among my top stories I read here on Fimfiction). So I will most definitely read your none fanfic related stories and i'm really looking forward to it. Just give out a notice here on fimfic (or tell how I can find them once they are out) so I don't miss it. xD

Well damn Loyal, it took you long enough to get off your ass and finally put your foot down, it's nice to see you branching out, and I'm not upset at all that you're no longer writing for the fandom, I'm ecstatic.
You need to do yourself a favor, cut all your ties with the fandom, the people here don't understand that this isn't people's only passion, I can name several musicians, artists, and authors that have dealt with just plain cruelty from their fans JUST for moving onto non-pony content, for furthering their career and pursuing their dreams... Some of them are hesitant to let go of the fans that may leave once they stop catering to their need, some are afraid to take the dive off the deep end.
Don't let that stop you.
You're an excellent writer, your talents are just that, yours. If you want to apply them somewhere else then do it, creative fields (as we know) are a gamble, if you aren't prepared to take any risks, you won't get anywhere. You probably feel safe here, don't you? Completely comfortable with putting out your work? That is NEVER a good thing.
I feel that this website is only a means to improve your writing while (hopefully) entertaining a crowd of people with a similar interest, once you're confident in your ability as an author (which, as it seems, you've been mulling over) then even I would say "Get the fuck outta here, you got better things to do than this."
I'm sure those of us that care will look at this as if it were only the prequel... fond memories and the beginnings of your career as a professional author.

I support this move, Loyal. I'll miss your pony work, but you'll be leaving for the same reason that I got into Pony fiction. I wanted to hone my skills as a writer with a world that already existed. I'm doing that, yes, and I fell in love with the fandom and the culture that I've come across.
Perhaps its because I'm a late comer to the fandom and to Fimfiction, but I've not seen a drop in interest in pony stories. Perhaps in the last couple of months, what with the no new ponysodes drought going on, but not since I joined almost nine months ago, at least.

Maybe you've suffered burn out from writing so much, that could be the case. You already have a massive legacy behind you that you should be proud of. I need to follow in your footsteps!
And I would entirely disagree with you in that this fandom is dying out. People said the same thing after season three, and this is coming from someone who is a very pessimistic person. Maybe the rush of epic tier writing that you are known by, and a lot of the more famous authors have slowed down, but I don't think fanfiction as a whole is. The first age is passing, would be a good analogue.
But I do hope your best in that you eventually spin and create new ideas that can make you money! That's a good thing! Money, and personal happiness.
