My Thoughts on the Doctor Who: Series 8 Script Leak Debacle · 7:53pm Jul 8th, 2014

Well...I certainly didn't see this coming.
For those of you who don't know, the full scripts for Episodes 1-5 of Series 8 were leaked online yesterday. Now, before any of you click away from this thinking that I'm about to give my thoughts on the scripts after reading them, you can relax because I have NOT read the scripts nor do I ever plan to until after said episodes have aired. I just want to give my thoughts on the whole debacle as well as my thoughts on episode spoilers in general.
As expected, this is causing a lot of problems for the BBC right now. They are currently investigating the leak and simultaneously pleading to fans to not spread spoilers to anyone else online. It's unfortunate that something like this happened and I feel really bad for all of the writers and everybody else who works hard to create this wonderful show for us because, in the end, they're getting hurt more than us. They've worked hard to create these episodes in order to entertain and surprise us fans when time comes for the episodes to air. And to just have a total of five episode scripts leaked well over a month before the series's premiere date is a huge blow. I mean, FIVE whole scripts! That's nearly half of Series 8 right there! And that's one of the biggest reasons why I'm refusing to go searching around for these leaked scripts.
These people have put a lot of hard work into these episodes and it would be an insult to their time and effort to go read these scripts and spoil myself. Secondly, reading the scripts would ruin those five episodes for me. When Series 8 comes around, I want to feel how I feel whenever I sit down to watch a new Doctor Who episode: excited. I want to be in the dark about most of what's going to happen. Now, sure, I've made many blog posts discussing rumors, filming footage, filming pics, and the like. But there's a huge difference between talking about released pictures of shoots and reading an entire leaked script, let alone five of them.
So, as a devoted Whovian, I urge all of my fellow Whovians out there to not spoil these five episodes for themselves. The start of the series is just over a month away. I think you can survive the wait. But if you do decide to hunt down and read the full scripts, please don't spoil them for anyone else. It's an insult to the show, it's an insult to those who work on it, it's an insult to the fans, and it's an insult to yourself.

I didn't even know about this until now...
Anyway, I never look at spoilers anyway...
Except that one time I looked up the plot of an LoK episode on wiki the day before it was set to premiere... But that was years ago.So there aren't any problems from me.#keepmespoilerfree
I absolutely agree. I always do my best to avoid spoilers.

I completely agree with ya, I won't be looking around for these leaks either.
Well, Whovians have shown their integrity before, like when The Name of the Doctor was accidentally released early. I
highly doubtfully expect a repeat of this. Also, I agree that there is certainly a difference between released teasers and leaked spoilers. It's the difference between watching a movie trailer and reading the last page of a mystery novel first (though admittedly, there have been a few movie trailers that basically gave away the whole movie).
