Doom Patrol: Saving eyes from bad grammar and having a retcon · 7:57pm Jul 7th, 2014
Hola a todos, tal vez se estén preguntando por que empiezo este blogpost en español. Es para recordarles a ustedes la razón de la pésima ortografía en los primeros capítulos de La Patrulla Condenada, o sea, soy hispanoparlante.
The thing is that recently, this good fella named Frazone offered himself to edit the Secret Origins and Anatomy Lesson chapters of the fic. Alongside with VunderGuy who edited the first one and Diamond Dust who is checking the new ones. I really owe a big one to these guys, so I'm dedicating them this blogpost.

How AWESOME!? This level of AWESOME!:
For those who know my love of mechas and respect on the Mazinger saga, you must understand that this is not a small statement.
But the title also advertises a retcon inside the Doom Patrol canon (oh my God, my first retcon) so this is what got retconted:
0.- It's Apple Bloom, not Applebloom: Yep, it took me almost a year to notice this but apparently I've been misspelling one of my main characters's name this whole time. And nobody told me.
1.- Twilight trusting in Pinkamena immediately: in the original version, Twilight just accepts Pinkamena's existence without too much of a thought, so here I added one or two lines about her inner doubts about the weirdness around her.
2.- Pinkie/Pinkamena knowing it all: At first, Pinkie/Pinkamena owns a set of Hawkman's wings and a Transformers's scanner and seems to know everything about them, including the planets Thanagar and Cybertron. This would completely fit with Pinkie's randomness, but after thinking about it I realized that it didn't fit with my intent of making Pinkamena the extreme opposite, so I cut the explanation flow on them, leaving it more ambiguous and hopefully more fitting.
3.- The CMC being age progressed to twenty years old: This one was originally intended as a way to advert putting small fillies in the usual danger that a super-hero has to face daily. It seemed like a better idea then but now it's just senseless. Also with neither of them being a pony anymore, there's no way to tell how physically old are they supposed to be (two of them being also ageless too).
4.- Pinkie/Pinkamena saving the changelings: When I first wrote the character of Pinkamena, I was aiming for the science adventure hero from the old pulps, like Doc Savage. This scenario completely fit in that category but without a proper introduction it makes her look like a complete Mary Sue so, as with her knowledge, I toned it down to give her a smaller role.
5.- The boxing glove arrows: This one is connected to Mare-Do-Well Strikes! For those who have read it you should notice that MDW uses trick arrows. At first, Pinkie was going to supply the mare behind the mask with equipment and stuff, so the boxing glove arrow was a foreshadowing for the other fic. But after all this time, MDWS!’s plot changed so much that it doesn’t fit anymore, so I deleted the bowing glove arrows.

Wow i guess we learn a new thing everyday....true i didn't knew that fact about Apple Bloom's name .
I guess that's because to me as long as othrs know exactly who you're talking about , they don't mind that much .
it would be the smae thing for "Spider man" and "Spider-man". but here we want stories to be perfect so , next time i won't forget to check that.
Also those changes doens't seem bad , i think the only two i can really comment are the one about The CMC againg or not , , you made a good choice there , i think that would be better to keep them as they are now , and may be in the next arc make her grow up a bit , but as you said , with how they look right now , you can't really tell how old they are . and it really makes an opposite with the mare-do-well series who's Darker , with a grown up and well trained , lonely hero . the CMC are less experimented about their powers , their tactics , they're still discovering.
The other would be that boxing gloves arrows....i mean come on.....it was one big easter egg...i think you could still put it may be , and if the mane 6 ask why did she make them , she could have made them after watching Mare-do-Well kicking some thieves from a distance....and taking a like at her arrows , she tried to make some for but it ended staying in a box , with , no purpose..

If you think about it, the only one still being an organic being is Apple Bloom, who is now a shape sifter, physical age is completely irrelevant. Also, as you pointed out, it reinforces the contrast between the DP and MDW.
The boxing glove arrows were a lead to make Pinkie/Pinkamena an expy of Lucius Fox for MDW. Back then, I was just making another pony Batman but now I'm aiming for another angle. Also, MDW making her own trick arrows is a foreshadowing for this far future scene:
MDW's daughter just discovered her mother's secret and decides to steal her old gear in order to become the new MDW. She has her mother's aim with the crossbow but with real arrows, then this happens.
